It seems that 2022 marks John Browning’s rebirth of the legendary 9mm. The latest in the Hi-Power games is also the one most closely linked to the pistol. Marlin is entering a new era. Ruger purchased the iconic lever actions after Remington Arms collapsed. Shooters eagerly awaited the re-release. The Ruger 1895 SBL (Stainless Steel Big Loop), is the first Marlin to hit market. The rifle’s quick is the same, with the same machined stainless steel receiver. Ruger did make some tweaks to the rifle to improve its performance. The muzzle is now threaded to standard. The.45-70 Government behemoth makes a great start to the Ruger Marlin era. Paper shotshells, a nostalgic favorite among shooters of a certain age, have gone the wayof the dodo. Or have they? They’ll be around for a while if Remington has its way. The storied ammunition company will also reintroduce Peters Paper Shotshells. The retro shells are only available in 12-gauge at the moment. They offer the same classic look, feel, and low-recoil performance generations have loved from trap, skeet, and sporting clays shooters. Five loads offer the same vintage blue paper hull, but five different powder blends, high antimony shot, and clean primers. This allows for precise patterns on clay targets. The revolver’s most distinctive feature is its double-action. This breaks with the usual slews of single-actions. Some people might have forgotten that December 2018 marked the 80th anniversary the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was not lost on Sig Sauer. In honor of the fallen soldiers and sailors, the gunmaker, in partnership with the Best Defense Foundation commissioned its custom shop, to create three unique 1911s. The engraving is what really stands out. Sig produced pistols that commemorate the USS Arizona (which was also sunk in the attack) and the USS Oklahoma (which took large portions of their crews with them). These guns are not only beautiful but also inspire respect for the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation.
