Pistols and Perry — Handgun Competitions at National Matches

June 23rd, 2022After the Opening Ceremony, the 2022 National Matches at Camp Perry officially commence on July 12th with the handgun Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) followed by M9 Pistol Excellence-In-Competition (EIC) pistol matches. USAMU, Military Team, CMP instructors will lead the SAFS. After classroom instruction and practice at the range, SAFS participants will fire an EIC Match using the M9 EIC Match to earn points towards the prestigious Distinguished Badge. These matches have been very popular in the past with over 480 Rimfire competitors, from novices to experts. On July 13, there will be a.22 Rimfire 900 Aggregate, Team Matches, and Rimfire EIC matches. Then, on July 14, there will be a.45 Pistol aggregate and Team matches. On Saturday, July 16th, there will be the President’s 100 Pistol Match and National Trophy Individual Match. National Trophy Pistol Team Matches and the GSSF Glock National Challenge. There will be a lot of talent at the firing line. Over 90% of the top 50 Service Pistol shooters have been Distinguished in recent years. Pistol Games Awards will be presented at the end of the day. The last pistol matches were held on Sunday, the 17th.

It took decades of competition before all those patches were acquired — that’s dedication to the sport.
