President Joe Biden is in a difficult situation. Biden is trying to appease a loud and stubborn national gun control movement as well as its donors. These are the same people who buoyed his presidential campaign. They continue to shout “Do more!” as their influence and relevance diminish. RELATED STORY 12 Democrat Cities Set Homicide Records – Show Gun Control Fallacy. The Biden Budget is Lip Service for Gun Control Donors. The rest of America is doing the same. They have rejected the president’s gun control proposals by the millions. They’ve also purchased firearms in record numbers in the past two years, making this the largest gun-owning community. It is clear that the president is once again pledging lip service to a loud donor group he cannot please. The budget blueprint of President Joe Biden is largely symbolic and has no chance to become a reality. It’s a plan, a statement about priorities. It makes sense that the president gave symbolic lip service to gun control groups who are growing frustrated at him for not doing more. President Biden’s proposals also include many of their kitchen sink priorities. The president’s wishlist includes perennial requests. The budget proposes to invest in evidence-based community violence intervention; expand summer programming, employment opportunities for teenagers; and help formerly incarcerated people successfully reenter their communities rather than re-offending. The proposal states that President Biden’s long-standing commitment to gun violence has allowed us to implement a comprehensive gun crime reduction strategy. This strategy was more effective than any President in their first year of office. It was not mentioned that criminals should be held accountable for their crimes. The truth is that crime is increasing in many cities across the country. While prosecutors and Blue state attorney generals are allowing violent criminals to go free, the pattern often leads to them committing more severe crimes. Appeasement Reality is not in line with the president’s vision of gun control. Fred Guttenburg, a prominent voice in the gun control movement, called out the president’s failure leadership as gun control groups feel slighted time and again. Guttenburg stated, “They’ve probably done probably, through executive actions, not everything they could do but a lot.” Others in the gun control donor group have been curt. “He hasn’t really been a leader. March for Our Lives expressed the hope that he would fulfill his promises. Giffords also called out the lackluster action by the Biden administration, saying that “We would like more from the Biden government.” Continued Attack on Lawful Firearm Industry. The president is making it clear with his budget. He is signaling his continued attack against the lawful firearms industry, hoping to incite death by a thousand papers cuts. The president also included a line item to spend billions to increase the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) staff to hire 140 special agents and 160 Industry Operations Inspectors. “Joe Biden may not have succeeded in his mission to put a gun control activist at the head of the ATF, but that doesn’t stop the White House moving forward with its plan for weaponizing the agency and turning it into a gun control group with law enforcement power,” Bearing Arms’ Cam Edwards noted. The funding boost will allow more inspectors to be sent to retailers. The President Biden’s Zero Tolerance policy, intends to cite them for minor clerical mistakes. His administration is trying to punish the industry that gives him the ability to exercise his Second Amendment rights. The president is more concerned with diverting resources from proven crime reduction efforts and revoking licenses of retailers who comply with the law than in punishing criminals and putting them behind bars for their crimes. Wink-and-Nod In yet another attempt to please his gun control supporters, the president included his favorite gun control lie about the repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. The PLCAA repeal is yet another sign that President Biden is not serious and is only lip service. His claim has been repeatedly refuted as false. The PLCAA prohibits frivolous lawsuits that would bankrupt firearm businesses. None of the president’s proposals address the concerns of the 40,000,000 Americans who have purchased firearms in the last two years, a large portion of the largest gun-owning population ever. They are not buying gun control’s schemes that limit their rights, and they aren’t falling for the president’s false claims regarding the Second Amendment. This budget proposal is nothing but a wink and nod to gun control groups writing checks in order to keep him and other gun-control politicians in power. Original story posted to NSSF.org.
