October 30, 2021 Lyman has a handy product for reloaders. It can save space on your bench and allow you to get more powder flow into your cases. Powder can stick to the sides of common plastic “one size fits all” powder funnels. Sometimes, the fit to a case mouth is not perfect so some kernels end up on a bench. These problems can be solved by precision powder funnels. What if you want to shoot a wide variety of calibers with large and small case mouths. Lyman has the answer. The Brass-Smith Precision Funnel Set is now $28.99 on Amazon. This handy product combines an aluminum funnel that is static-free with six (6) CNC-machined inserts. They will fit cartridges ranging from.22 caliber to.338 caliber. You can easily swap the inserts to match your cartridge. Gavin Gear, Ultimate Reloader, shows you how to use the Lyman Precision Powder Funnel Set. This is not a ‘one size fits all” funnel. The Brass Smith Precision Funnel Set uses precision-machined, caliber specific inserts to fit the case neck. For calibers 22-338, CNC-turned aluminum inserts. Laser-marking is used to identify the caliber. Inserts can be easily and quickly installed by pushing them into place, then pulling them out to change calibers. Garandman, a member of Accurate Shooter Forum, purchased the Lyman Precision Funnel System. He has used it for several cartridge types and is very happy with the results. Here’s his report: “I wanted share my positive experience with the Lyman powder funnel. First, the funnels are aluminum / pot metallic, so there is no static charge and the powder kernels flow straight down the funnel into the case without any hang-up. The funnel also comes with interchangeable case neck inserts that allow for powder loss outside of the neck. The funnel is also less likely to stick to your case neck and pull it from your loading block. It could leak powder all over the place. Garandman says the Lyman Precison Funnel Set has done a great deal and recommends that you add this tool to any reloading tool set. Johnny’s Reloading bench has a review of the Lyman Precision Funnel set. This video review shows six precision inserts ranging in caliber from.22 to 3.38.
