Remembering the 9/11 Attack After Twenty Years

September 11, 2021
Creedmoor Sports image. Freedom is never more than one generation away. It wasn’t passed on to our children through the bloodstream. It must be fought and protected and passed on to them. Or we will spend our golden years telling our children, and their children’s, what it was like back in the United States, where men were free. Ronald Reagan
Today marks the 20th anniversary a tragic day in American History. Like December 7, 9/11 will always be remembered as a “date that will live in infamy”. We believe it is important for Americans to remember the sacrifices of those who responded to the World Trade Center (WTC), and who lost their lives. It is also a great time to recall the core values that this nation stands for — freedom, liberty and justice for all. The shared memory of 9/11 may be able to bring us together in a world where politicians and media outlets are trying to divide Americans and create hostility.
Forum member Charlie NC wrote: “Everybody remembers exactly where they were at the time of the attacks and what emotions they felt.” God bless those who lost their lives that day and those who pursued justice. Our country was united at this terrible time than at any other time in my life. We can regain that harmony under better circumstances, we hope.

Rememberance starting 20 years ago — Days before the attack
David Joe, a Forum member, was in New York City in September 2000. David was actually in the WTC just days before the attack with his family. Here’s his view on how 9/11 has changed American life.
Twenty years ago, the World Trade Center…
Twenty years ago, my wife, unborn daughter, and son spent five hours at World Trade Center. We ate, took photos everywhere, watched the tilting platform movie and pressed souvenir pennies. Then we went up to the top to talk to employees, watch birthday flowers being delivered up an escalator to one of the employees. That’s what we thought of the morning of September 11, 2001.

The night of 9/11 was the first time I realized the world was different. Over the years, my family has travelled again and grew up to recognize the enormity of the events of 9/11 every year. Some people think about it all day and become more vigilant. That is, I hope, a good thing.
Many families were involved in the daily fight against terrorists returning home. That day, thousands of relatives lost their loved ones. Many more families were affected by the events over the years.
