Rentenkorte 3-Peats at Iron Man Silhouette Championship

June 18th, 2023Erich Rentenkorte won the 2023 Iron Man Regional Sihouette Championship for a third consecutive year – a remarkable “Three-Peat”. Mietenkorte scored 280/320 and won three of the four championships at the two-day competition. He was also the 4-Gun aggregate winner. The 2023 Iron Man Regional Silhouette Championship took place June 3-4, hosted by Deep Creek Shooting Range, Missoula, MT. Shooters from Washington state, Montana, South Dakota and Canada participated. Each morning, competitors fire relays of 40 shots in Smallbore Hunter or Smallbore Standard Rifle courses of fire. The rounds are fired from the standing position (offhand) at targets of 40, 60 77 and 100 meters. In the afternoon, competitors switch to centerfire, and shoot another 40-shot relay for High Power Hunting Standard Rifle and High Powder Standard Rifle with targets at 200 meters, 300 meters, 385 meters, and 500 metres. “I’ve been asked in the past why I shoot silhouette, and I think the first thing I thought of was that I feel at home at a silhouette match. It’s a lot of fun, the people are amazing, and the shooting is challenging. Silhouette competitors have become a part of my family. I am happy to support a sport which brings families together and creates great memories,” said Mietenkorte.Erich describes his aiming method, “Pick a point on the target and aim for it.” If you are on target, don’t hesitate to take the shot. You can easily get stuck by trying to improve a great shot. Keep the trigger pushed back and follow through. Have fun! “[Embedded content] See more videos on The Rifle Silhouette Channel.Mietenkorte competes at Lapua’s Rimfire performance center with Lapua Midas+, X-ACT and matched to his rifle. Mietenkorte uses Vihtavuori powder and Berger 95gr or 115gr VLD target bullets in High Power Rifle. “Training using SK Ammunition and specifically Rifle Match allows me to hone in on my abilities. I don’t trust any other ammunition for a match of this magnitude. “Training with rimfire ammunition helps me reinforce my offhand shooting skills, which will help me achieve success on the high power range,” said Mietenkorte.Similar Posts
