Hunter Safety Tips

NRAFamily.org offers seven safety tips for hunters in a great article. Before heading out on a hunt, it is a good idea to read this article. These are three key points of advice: 1. Before you shoot, be positive about your target

Although this may sound simplistic, the truth is that farmers all over the world are forced to spray-paint cattle every year during whitetail hunting season. If they don’t, hunters will “harvested” them. This is why it happens. Most likely, this is due to “buck fever,” which means that the hunter desires to see a big buck so much that his eyes trick him into believing that one is there. Don’t shoot if you are unsure. 2. Scopes are not binoculars

Never use a riflescope to replace binoculars. It is tempting to do this, but it is a dangerous practice. 3. Know when to unload

After you have finished hunting, unload the firearm before returning to camp. Before you attempt to climb a steep hill or travel on slippery terrain, unload your firearm. Visit WhereToHunt.org This is a great online resource that hunters can use to find game locations in their state and make sure they have the appropriate permits and tags. WheretoHunt.org has an interactive map of the nation. The NSSF has information for all 50 states about hunting licenses and permits, where to hunt and hunter education classes, laws, regulations, and more. You’ll also find links to required applications and license forms for each state. Click Map to See State-by-State Hunting Information
