Rimfire Revolution: A Guide for NRL22 Competitors

Are you interested in NRL22 matches or would you like to get started? Grab a copy of Rimfire Revival: A Complete Guide To Modern.22 Rifles. This book will be released in summer 2021 and covers rimfire firearms and shooting disciplines. Print versions are available for $20.99 at Gun Digest or Amazon Direct, or $26.29 through Amazon Third Parties. You can also get a digital Kindle Edition from Amazon for $17.99. This Gun Digest has become the “go-to resource” for NRL22 and PRS rimfire shooters. This 2021 Edition full color Gun Digest book includes topics such as rimfire semi autos and how they operate, bolt-action accuracy, match shooting skills, DIY precision gunsmithing and hunting with rimfires. The.22-Caliber rifle is more popular now than ever before, thanks to the growth of tactical rimfire competition. In the last two decades, every major gun manufacturer has introduced at least one new.22 LR rimfire weapon to the market. Gun Digest’s Rimfire revolution has extensive coverage on new models from major gun manufacturers. The.22 Long Rifle is the most popular firearm chambering and ammunition type on the planet. The.22 LR was used by 3P marksmen in the Olympics, but is also used by benchrest competitors, NRL22, backyard plinkers and small-game hunters. The humble.22LR is experiencing a major revival in the USA, thanks to the expansion of NRL22 (and its PRS equivalent). Because centerfire reloading parts are so expensive and hard to find, people shoot less centerfire and more rimfire. This 272-page guide also covers.17 caliber rimfire cartridges, including 17 HM2(Mach 2),17 HMR,and 17 WSM. All three are excellent varmint cartridges, with the 17 WSM being effective out to 250 yard. The 17 HM2 can be used in a standard.22 LR rifle and fed from standard.22 LR magazine. For most rifles, you only need a barrel change to convert from.22 LR 17 HM2. This gives you twice the versatility with your rimfire rifle. Shoot.17s and.22s with the same weapon. NRL22 – Challenging Practical Competitons with.22 LR rifles The USA has seen a huge growth in rimfire matches over the past five years. There are ten times more rimfire matches than PRS or NRL centerfire matches. Rimfire ammo costs less and clubs can host challenging rimfire matches at any outdoor range that allows shooting to 200+ yards. NRL22 Competition – Tactical Rimfire matchesThe NRL22 format is a fantastic shooting discipline. NRL22 is a great shooting discipline that’s relatively inexpensive. You don’t need to reload the match ammo. You can get through the match with a couple of 50-round.22 LR boxes. Some people bring a lot of gear to matches but that’s not a necessity. You can be competitive and still win (by keeping it simple). Tips for NRL22 competitors

Jonathan Ocab

I am the match director for my local NRL22 matches. I am often asked for tips on competing in NRL22. I recommend that you get the course of fire in advance and practice the stages at the range. Here are some other tips to help NRL22 competitors improve gun handling and match results. 1. Dry Fire Practice – If you can’t practice live fire at the range, then I recommend that shooters practice their shooting positions by using dry fire at home. Set up props, barricades or other fake targets on a garage wall or inside your house. Run through each stage. 2. Scope Magnification — The most common problem I see among newer shooters of NRL22 is that they tend to maximize the scope magnification. The timer starts, the shooter is in position, but the scope has been set to 15x and higher, and he can’t see the target. The shooter lowers magnification and locates the target. He then increases magnification and takes the shot. Novice NRL22 users should use the mid-range magnifier. Try shooting 7x-12x to learn how to balance the field of view with the target image.
