Rust Fighters Test Comparison — Nine Products Time-Tested

July 10th 2023 Which anti-corrosion products are most effective in combating rust? What do field tests reveal, despite the many opinions you’ll hear? A rifle shooter who posts on YouTube under the name BlueonGoldZ wanted to separate myths (and marketing claims from reality), so he conducted his own long-term corrosion test using metal samples. He first used a normal tap water spray and then did a longer-duration salt-spray test. Nine different products were evaluated: Break Free CLP (also known as CLP), Corrosion X, Frog Lube (also known as M-Pro 7), Outers, Pro Shot Zero Friction (also known by the brand name Rem Oil), Slip 2000 and Tetra Gun Triple Action CLP. BlueonGoldZ first examined each product’s “beading properties” with a regular tap water spray. The main test involved multiple weeks of exposure following a “dense salt-water spray”. The screen shot above shows that Corrosion X (Best) and Frog-Lube (2nd Best) were the clear winners of the test. The photo shows two weeks after the samples were sprayed with sal water. The results are quite dramatic — you can actually see what happened. This is a useful piece of real-world work. Results from a Similar Long-Term Exposure Salt TestBlueonGoldZ’s tests did not include Eezox. We have found it to be extremely effective, on par with Corrosion X. In a long-term corrosion prevention test, Eezox was the best rust fighter in the order of Corrosion X. Since the test was completed, Corrosion X, an already excellent product, has undergone enhancements. CLICK HERE for Long-Term Salt Exposure Test Report.
