San Jose passes law requiring gun liability insurance and an annual fee

California is the best place to look if you want the future of the United States. California is a state that is being debilitated and worsened by Democrat policies. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any worse, San Jose passed a law that requires law-abiding gun owners carry liability insurance. San Jose’s government will donate money to any non-profit they choose, in addition to an annual fee. This means that gun-control groups will be supported. RELATED STORY 12 Democrat Cities Set Homicide Records – Show Gun Control Fallacy San Jose Requires Gun Liability Insurance. The bill becomes law six months later. This is a tax that violates a constitutional right, regardless of how it is written. What if they tax citizens for attending church or speaking in public? The possibility of a social media taxes has not been considered by the bill’s proponents. What can be done to stop it? CBS reported that liability insurance would encourage San Jose’s 55,000 residents who legally own at most one gun to have gun safes, trigger locks, and take gun safety classes. Legally owning at least one firearm in a household. What about illegal firearms? The city council doesn’t seem to be concerned about them. The article acknowledges that the bill does not address illegally acquired firearms. The article states that the measure did not address the huge problem of illegally acquired weapons that have been stolen or bought without background checks. The mayor also acknowledged that this will not stop gun violence. The mayor stated that this will not stop mass shootings or prevent bad people from committing violent crimes. It is clear that this measure has only one goal, and that is gun control. They have made it clear that the measure will not address illegally acquired firearms or prevent gun violence. The Democrat approach is to pursue law-abiding gun owners while ignoring violent criminals. Annual Fee to Gun Control Groups Law-abiding gun owners in San Jose must not only pay for liability insurance, but also have to pay an annually charged fee. The article continues to state that the council also voted to require gun owner to pay a $25 fee. This would be collected by a yet to be named nonprofit and distributed to community groups for firearm safety education, training, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and mental health services. While firearm safety education, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and mental health services are all great, who are the yet-to be-named nonprofits? It is clear from the whole measure that it will be anti Second Amendment gun control groups. Imagine being a law-abiding citizen having to pay money for groups that want to take your rights away. This article acknowledges that it is all about gun control. “The ordinance is part a broad gun control program Liccardo announced after the mass shooting at Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority railyard on May 26, which left nine people dead, including the employee who opened fired on his colleagues and then shot himself to death.” Gun Rights Group Files Suit Fortunately the National Association for Gun Rights is filing a lawsuit in an attempt to stop this. The group claims that the new bill is unconstitutional and aims to suppress gun ownership. According to an ABC News report, the suit states that San Jose’s imposition a tax, fee or other arbitrary cost on gun owners is intended to suppress gun ownership, without furthering any government interests. The penalties for not paying the fees and insurance include the seizure the citizen’s gun. The Ordinance is therefore patently unconstitutional.” As I said earlier, California is the best place to look to see what’s in store for the rest of the country. The National Association for Gun Rights also recognizes this threat, stating on their website: “If these gun grabers get away with taxing gun ownership, every Left-leaning county government across the country would quickly follow suit.” Godspeed National Association for Gun Rights. Many will not be able afford to purchase a firearm for home or personal defense if this becomes the law. This is a recipe to disaster in a country where criminals have become more powerful.
