Norma Ammunition Factory — Cartridge Creation Start to FinishNorma has released a fascinating clip showing how bullets, brass and ammunition are made at the Norma Precision AB factory, which was established in 1902. It is possible to see how cartridges are made. They start with brass disks and then are formed into shape using a series of processes including hitting the cup with a 30-ton Hammer. After annealing (shown in 0:08)? Each batch of brass is analyzed at multiple points along its length to check the metal grain structure and hardness. Each case is visually inspected before packing. The video also shows how bullets made from jackets or lead cores. You can also see the loading machines, which fill the cases with powder, seat bullets, then transport loaded rounds into the packing system. This video is for you guys! You won’t regret it. The editing and camera work are superb. There are many close-ups that reveal key processes like head-stamping and annealing. SAKO Factory Tour in FinlandSAKO makes some of the most beautiful hunting rifles available. Together with Tikka, SAKO has sophisticated production facilities in Finland. Shooting Sports USA explains that the “Rimfire cartridge case” is the oldest self-contained cartridge and has been in continuous production since mid-1850s. Rimfire cartridges are made from thin pieces of brass and have a hollow rim. The case is then filled with a priming compound using centrifugal force. A powder is added to the case and the bullet is placed in its mouth. To ensure that the round is fired with sufficient push and pull, the case is crimped around it. The primer is ignited when the firing pin strikes the case’s thin brass rim. Source: SSUSA.org 9/2/2017.
