Save money on AR Conversion Kits –.22 LR Rimfire

The cost of.223 Rem centerfire ammunition has increased due to inflation. Many people are now shooting.22 LR rimfire ammunition for practice and fun. Conversion kits allow you to shoot.22 LR ammunition from your existing.223/5.56 AR-15 rifle. This allows for low-cost training without affecting the rifle’s balance, ergonomics and/or optics. The CMMG Bravo.22 LR conversion kit includes a replacement bolt/bolt-carrier, along with three magazines of 25 rounds with specially-fitted.22 LR followers and ammo-slots. This kit allows you to use rimfire ammunition in any AR-15 chambered in.223 Rem (5.56×45). The CMMG Bravo comes with an integrated extension which fits into your existing chamber. The bullet enters the barrel through this extension. Brownells is selling this conversion kit for $179.99, which includes three 25-rd magazines. The CMMG Bravo Conversion Kit includes a blowback-operated.22 LR Bolt Carrier, a rubber protector for the bolt carrier tip and three 25-round polymer mags. Simply replace the.223 Rem carrier and bolt with the Bravo.22LR conversion unit, and load the included magazines with rimfire ammunition. To use the CMMG Kit simply remove the centerfire carrier/bolt and replace it with CMMG’s silver colored bolt. CMMG says: “For best results, use a round-style hammer. Notched hammers may cause function issues.” Testers report that high-velocity.22 LR ammunition works best. CMMG also notes that “36gr plated nose bullets have proved to be the best option for function.” Copper-plated bullets reduce fouling. Ultimate Reloader tests CMMG.22 LR conversion kit Our friend Gavin Gear from UltimateReloader.com tested the CMMG.22 LR AK Conversion Kit recently. He noted that the CMMG magazines were easy to use and that the installation was straightforward. Travis Fox, a fellow tester, and he successfully shot the unit in both rapid-fire and slow-fire. Gavin and Travis found that the CMMG Kit was easy to install and enjoyable to use. It’s like owning “two guns in a single” with an AR that can fire both.223 Rem &.22 LR. Travis was impressed by the ease of use. “It’s so easy to switch over to the CMMG.22 LR kit!” The first time I did it, it took me 68 seconds. It’s simple. Each time I did it, it took me 40 seconds. It takes longer to load a mag than to switch from.223/5.56 ammo to.22 LR ammo and back. The AR shot well with the high-velocity ammunition types. Both Federal Game Shok 40gr ammo and American Eagle 38gr Copper Plated HP ammo performed at 100%. CMMG recommends high-velocity Copper plated rimfire ammo. Travis advises that after converting to centerfire.223 REM (5.56), “make sure you clean the gas tubes and components, as.22LR tends run dirty”. READ Full Test on UltimateReloader.com. It’s an easy-to-install system that is… accurate and reliable. The [CMMG] conversion has a lower recoil and is great for training.
