Scope Review: IOR Valdada 12-52x56mm, 1/8 MOA Clicks

October 27, 2021 Scope Review: IOR Valdada 1252x56mm with 1/8MOA Clicks IOR Valdada 1252x56mm Terminator Scope Evaluation with Benchrest Competition by James McKinney Since I started shooting in competition back in the early 1990s, rifle scopes are much better. This scope is the best in terms of scope quality. The IOR Valdada Terminator 12-52x56mm is a fantastic scope. It comes with a 40mm tube. These instruments have only two drawbacks. The first is the cost (retail $3695), and the second is the weight (three lbs). Many people agree that this instrument has no equal. The most common complaints from those who were willing to pay for this extraordinary instrument was the lack of a zero stop and the insufficient 1/4-MOA adjustments. IOR Valdada was able to listen and correct both of these issues. They added a very functional stop and adjusted the adjustments to 1/8th MOA. Valdada listens carefully to its customers. “The Valdada performed flawlessly and allowed me to win the match. The 1/8th MOA clicks work perfectly and the large 40mm tube allows for 100 minutes of vertical adjustment. Perfect tracking was achieved. The precise 1/8th-minute clicks and the MOA reticle were a huge help. The scope performed flawlessly. This scope was able to see 6mm bullet holes in white at 600 yards even with my 77-year-old eyes. That was the only time I have been able do it. James Mock. The Terminator scope has many great features.
Parallax adjustment allows for precise and convenient adjustments on the tube body.

— Reticle with precise and illuminated center dots.

— One hundred MOA vertical adjustment range.

This scope is extremely well designed in every respect. The tube is located just behind the objective bell. It is easy to create sharp images with it that are free of parallax. This scope is packed with all the features long-range shooters need. This scope is a great example of how this company listens and adjusts from 1/4-MOA to 1-/8-MOA. This is a second focal plan (SFP) scope. Valdada also offers a 40mm tube scope with a first focal plane, (FFP), for those who would prefer that option. NOTE: The FFP version has a maximum magnification of 40X, rather than 52X. This scope’s power-changing ring is also well thought-out. It has three different color-coded clicks that indicate subtension of hash marks. This means you have positive confirmation of your hash mark value. The reticle hash mark subtends 1/2 MIL at 14.4X. They are one MOA at 26X and half-MOA at 52X (very useful for wind calls). IOR Valdada 12-52x56mm Scope Shows Itself in Competition This month

I received the scope in October 15th. I used it in a 600 yard match on Saturday, October 16th. I sold my BAT/Leonard rifle several months ago, and quit competition. I couldn’t stay still and I bought a Stiller Cobra and Dusty Stevens a Krieger 17.5?-twist barrel with 6mm Dasher. The barrel arrived on October 13th. I had three days to break it in, find a load, and zero the scope. I shot 15 rounds of 1 shot/clean and 1 shot clean. I also shot 1-shot clean, 1-shot clean, 2-shot clean, 3-shot clean, and 15 rounds total. I didn’t have the scope so I couldn’t develop a match load. I received the Terminator on Friday October 15th. I completed the fire-forming of 48 pieces of brass and zeroed my scope with the fireforming load. The scope was easy to zero and the optics were excellent. The scope was very good quality. I have used it since 2009 to shoot a Valdada 36X Benchrest model with my target rifle. This scope is superb with great Schott glass and rock-solid adjustments. Great Tracking Confirmed by Shooting the “Square”.

I used some fireform loads to shoot the “square” and the bullet passed through the hole created by the initial round. This test consists of five shots, each with a different aim point. Each shot is adjusted to adjust 6 MOA. The second shot is 6MOA higher than the first, while the third shot is 6MOA right, the third shot is 6MOA lower, and the fourth shot is 6MOA down. The fifth shot is 6MOA left. The scope adjustments are perfect when the last shot passes through the hole in the first. The Terminator was flawless. I was unable to make a good load for this barrel due to time constraints so I used a load that I had made with a previous Dasher. It contained 32.5 grains Varget and a 105gr Berger Hybrid. into the lands. Bart’s Hammers are my favorite, but I didn’t have enough time to shoot the match. I managed to mount the scope on the rifle even though I only had one day with it before the match. I took one shot at the 100-yard range and adjusted my scope to 11 MOA. I told the shooters that I was never so unprepared for a match. The Valdada performed flawlessly and allowed me to win the match (first 600-level win in a long while!). The precise 1/8th-minute clicks and MOA reticle were a huge help. The precision of the 1/8-MOA clicks is excellent and the large 40mm tube allows for 100 minutes of vertical adjustment. Perfect tracking was achieved. This scope uses steel ball bearings by Valdada. The hash marks prove to be very useful during matches. The hash marks are 1/2-MOA at 52X. I used the scope at that power up to the 4th target, then switched to 26X to use the 1-MOA hash mark. These hash marks are useful for determining the amount of winddrift as we use a steel gong to sighters. This scope has a lighted red reticle. Although this is not essential for the type and level of photography I do, many people make use of it. A zero stop is also available on the scope, which is extremely useful for shooting events that require multiple adjustments. One can dial back to the “set zero” if he gets “lost”. This system was easy to use. Bart Sauter, a bullet-maker and benchrest shooter, has been using an IOR Valdada Terminator scope since several years. He has made a significant impact in the 600-yard game. He is a Valdada dealer. Bart is available to assist you with any IOR Valdada optics or Terminator needs.
