Scrambling eggs at 600+ yards with 6mm BRX

January 30, 2022. Can you hit an egg at 600+ metres? We don’t mean just by luck. You will need to have good shooting skills and a precise rifle to do this. How precise? A chicken egg is on average 2 1/4 inches (57mm) long and 1 3/8 inches (44.5mm) wide. A rifle capable of 1/3 MOA accuracy or better is required to hit an egg at 600 yards. DukeDuke, a forum member, has such a gun and demonstrated its egg-busting prowess with this video. DukeDuke’s rifle chambered in 6BRX (30? 6BRX (a 30?). It’s loaded with DTAC-115gr bullets, pushed by Alliant Reseller 17. The eggs are placed on top poles 616 yards from firing line in the video. The video shows that DukeDuke was able to scramble those eggs at 616 yards. The range is located just outside of Lake Jackson in Texas. The gun is a Rem 700 SABDL, blueprinted, and bedded in a Rem/HS PrecisionPSS stock. 31 The barrel is 1:8-twist Broughton. The “P3?” The “P3?” on the barrel is Porter’s Precision Products, Lake Jackson TX. Kenneth Porter built the rifle. The load was 33.5 grams of RL-17 at 2950 fps with 115gr DTAC rounds touching the lands. Cartridge OAL is 2.400?. Bob Crone developed the 6mm BRX. The 30? The BRX retains the 30? capacity of the parent 6mmBR Case. Bob explained to us that the original 6mm BRX design had a.100? He had a longer head space than a 6mmBR Norma, and he never changed his original design. After Bob created the first 6mm BRX, Bill Shehane developed a 6mm BRX version with a.120? There was more head space and confusion. The original 6mm BRX was, and still is, a chambering with a headspace of.100. It is longer than a 6mm BR Norma. AR-X Enterprises LLC, www.6mmAR.com.
