Shooting Indoor Ranges – Proper Range Procedures

Shooting at Indoor Ranges – Proper Range ProceduresAugust marks the National Shooting Sports Month. This month, many indoor ranges will be offering promotional specials. You can get range sessions for free or at a reduced price, and you can also find discounts on guns and accessories. Shooting indoors can be fun and you can often shoot after work at many indoor ranges. When shooting indoors, you should be extra cautious. Respect the “Etiquette” of the range and follow all safety measures. We also recommend double protection for your ears — ear plugs under muffs. The NSSF offers a helpful video on Range Safety and Etiquette. This 8.5-minute clip explains safe practices at indoor ranges. The moderator explains the basics of gun safety before moving on to range etiquette. This includes range officer commands, how you uncase your firearm when you arrive at the range, and what to expect if an accidental firearm drop occurs. There are also specific safety tips for handling semi-automatic handguns as well as revolvers. These behaviors are dangerous and inconsiderate. You can be permanently banned from indoor ranges if you engage in any of these behaviors. It is not a good idea to sweep other people after you have loaded a weapon. You should leave all your weapons empty until you get to your shooting station. While trying to fix a malfunction, or insert/remove magazines, you can turn the handgun in a sideways position. This will point the muzzle towards a fellow shooter. After firing a gun, he fails to remove the weapon from the gun and places it in an unsafe location near the shooting station. Reacting in an unpredictable manner when firing a handgun with high recoil. We’ve seen people accidentally fire a second shot with the muzzle off target. Not obeying range orders — especially continuing to fire during a cease-fire. Poorly aimed shots that hit target frames or carriers and cause ricochets.Seven Types of People on the Gun Range – HUMORThis is a satire with many truths. Laughter is guaranteed. Double up on hearing protection when shooting indoors We recommend using quality muffs that have earplugs beneath them to offer double protection. You need hearing protection when you are inside a range with other shooters firing right next to you. You also need to be able communicate with other shooters and hear range commands. We recommend electronic muffs that have plugs underneath.Similar Posts:Tags: Handgun Shooting, Indoor Range, NSSF, NSSM, Pistol Training, Range Etiquette
