Shooting USA presents the first ever PRS Rimfire Finale. This new rimfire discipline is similar to Precision Rifle Series’ (PRS) centerfire tactical competition but shot with.22 LR guns. Nearly 150 shooters participated in the inaugural PRS Rimfire Finale. Shooters could compete without expensive centerfire ammunition and without needing to shoot at a 1000 yard range. The fastest-growing competitive shooting disciplines are NRL tactical matches and PRS Rimfire Finale. Rimfire tactical disciplines are growing faster than centerfire PRS/NRL because.22LR ammo costs less than centerfire ammo and there are more places where rimfire matches are possible. PRS Rimfire provides the same fun without the high price of centerfire ammunition and/or the hours spent hand-loading. Rimfire PRS rifles are generally cheaper and have a lot less recoil. This is why PRS Rimfire, as well as NRL22, has become so popular. The Finale attracted close to 150 competitors in the first year PRS Rimfire series. The Triple C Shooting Facility, College Station, Texas hosted the First Annual PRS Rimfire Endurance. Match directors created 20 different courses of fire at this Texas venue. There were all the usual props that you would expect to see at a Precision Rifle match: tractor tires, wirespools and concrete culverts. The target placements were challenging. Many stages featured cross-course target layouts. This makes wind-reading more difficult, especially with the slow, low-BC.22 LR cartridges that are used in PRS rimfire contest. Tune in to Shooting USA TV tonight. This popular PRS rimfire sport will be covered by Shooting USA TV. We expect it to grow in 2022 and beyond. Notably, the National Rifle League conducts more NRL22 matches that NRL centerfire matches. The challenge of a tactical match with lower ammo costs ($0.15-$0.25/rd) is what draws competitors. This includes brass, primer, bullets and powder as well as barrel wear. There are many more venues than you need, as you only need a 300-yard (maximum) range to hold a rimfire tactical match.
