There are many similarities between the Sig P320 X Compact and X Carry. There are only a few differences between the guns, namely in ergonomics, grip length, slide length, and grip length. We will discuss all the differences and similarities between the guns. This will allow you to gather as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision.

Both guns can serve similar functions. The Sig P320 X Compact can be concealed-carry. It is not a weapon that could be used for military duty. The Sig P320 X carry is large enough to be used for duty. It can also be used for concealed-carry by a lot of people.

The most important difference is going to be the capacity. The Sig P320 X Compact can hold 15 rounds of ammunition. The Sig P320 X Compact holds 15 rounds, while the Sig P320 X Carry holds 17. This is going to play a significant role in the grip length. The distance between the top of your slide and the bottom of your magazine base plate is about 5/16 inches. This is a big difference between the two guns. This is a major issue for many people if you carry at the appendix position.

While I can conceal a Sig P320 X Compact fine, I have a lot more room for error with the smaller Sig P320 X Compact. Extra grip length isn’t usually as detrimental when carried at three to five o’clock. The Sig P320 X Compact is a significant size difference. The grips are identical in width. There won’t be much difference.
Weight
Weight is one area where you’ll notice a significant difference. The weight difference is almost three ounces. You get two additional rounds of capacity in Sig P320 X Compact for that three ounce difference. Concealed carry is easier with the Sig P320 X compact than with the X Carry. The Sig P320 X Compact is small enough that you can still carry the gun with no problems if you are willing to compromise.
I can hide one under a tee shirt just fine. However, if you are using the gun in everyday life, such as picking up groceries, bending over, getting out from the car, etc., it is more likely to print than a smaller X Compact. Personally, I prefer to carry a gun that is one size smaller than the maximum I can conceal.

This gives the X Compact a significant advantage over the larger X Carry. The X Carry is at the top of what I can conceal. I am a 6-foot tall male with a 32 inch waist. Depending on your build, the Sig P320 X carry might be smaller than mine or larger than mine. This is something you need to consider based on your particular situation.
Ergonomics in general
Frame
These guns do not have any modularity. There are some significant differences between the frames. Both are considered Sig X models. These are Sig’s performance lines, but there will be significant differences in how they feel. The Sig P320 X Compact grip is a medium-style grip. It is much larger than the grip on medium Sig P320 X Compact. It has a smaller diameter around the slide. The Sig P320 X Carry is a great choice for those with smaller hands. Smaller hands might find it difficult to reach the controls on the Sig P320 X Cary.

The grip length is another important feature. Both guns have a high bore axis. This means that you have less space to hold the grip. I can reach all three support fingers on both the bottom and top of the X Compact. However, I don’t have much space on the X Compact and the X Carry.
Downsides
The problem with the X Compact is my palm extends below its grip. The grip pokes my palm a bit in the right-hand corner, making it a little uncomfortable. It’s not very comfortable. If you have larger hands, the Sig P320 X Compact is a better choice. The Sig P320 X Compact will be a better choice if your hands are smaller.
It’s that easy. I prefer the X Carry grip because it fits my medium-large glove. The X Compact is more suitable for someone with small hands. They are almost equal in size. This makes sense. The X Compact is a better option for someone with smaller hands.

Texture
These guns have identical texture. Both guns have a light sandpaper feel, which works well. The system is flawless. It is easy to carry and allows you to shoot the gun with enough aggression.
Slide
Slide setups are almost identical. The slide manipulations can be done with the same serrations.
Because of the longer barrel and slide, it is a little easier for me to control the slide on my Sig P320 X Carry from the front. It keeps my hand a bit further back than the Sig P320 X Compact. The Sig P320 X Compact is fine for smaller hands.
Sights
Stock
Both guns come with Siglite night sights. The Siglite night sights feature a tritium front sight with a green ring. This makes them stand out in daylight. The Siglite night sights also have a two-dot Tritium back that is blacked for daylight use. You’ll see a traditional 3-dot nightlight picture during the night. Although the sight picture is quite clean, it’s not crisp. These sights are not my favorite, but they are one of the best sights that comes on a factory gun.
The downside to both guns is that the rear sight is attached to an optics mounting plate. If you want to run a red spot on the gun, you will need to remove the rear view. Backup iron sights cannot be mounted to the gun. Unfortunately, this system doesn’t have any aftermarket replacement sights I know of for these guns.
You can replace the front sight with any standard Sigcut front sight, but there are no options for the rear view. This is, frankly speaking, the best sight. This isn’t for you if you don’t like to change your factory guns to your favorite sights. You get a great set. This might be a problem if you are very picky about the sights on your gun.
Red Dot Optics
It is the same process to mount a red dot optical to either one of these guns. One thing you need to be aware of is the sight cut on your gun. These guns have seen a lot of changes by Sig. You can’t know if your gun will fit a Leupold Deltapoint Pro, Sig Romeo or any other modification. There are many rumors about the dots that fit on the Sig P320 X-series. Before you buy the dot, it is a good idea to find your serial number and contact Sig.

It is important to make sure that the gun you have purchased doesn’t come with an oddball gun. There are adapter kits available that allow you mount different dots to your gun. These adapter kits can still work with a specific footprint. You should verify with Sig which footprint your gun has.
Controls
Loaded chamber indicator
The Sig P320 X Carry does not have an active chamber indicator. The ejector pushes slightly when you chamber around, so you can feel it. There is no chamber indicator with a loaded design like the Sig P320 X Compact.
One is on the X Compact. It indexes into a barrel hood and pops up when there is a load a round inside the chamber. This is not a great feature. It adds to the gun’s mechanical complexity. It could lead to another failure point. It’s not a deal-breaker, however. It’s something you should be aware.
Trigger
These guns have identical triggers. Both guns use Sig’s flat X-series trigger. The trigger pulls are not much different from the standard Sig P320s. You’ll feel a bit of light take up, hit a wall and then feel creep as the trigger moves into a rolling brake.
Sig P320

These triggers are excellent, but not what you would expect from Sig performance products. You would expect a little more refinement. They are easy to use. They are very comfortable to shoot with. They are solid triggers that I like to use, even though I don’t love them as much when they’re in my hands at the gun shop counter. They are not as special as you would expect.
Slide Lock
These guns have identical slide locks. The slide lock on the Sig P320 X Compact is slightly smaller, at least in the bottom dimension. It doesn’t really matter what dimension you use when you use it. The slide lock is slightly awkward to use on both guns when it comes to dropping them.
It won’t draw blood unless you do 250 reload cycles per day. Calluses will always solve that problem. The Sig P320 XCompact versus XCarry is tied, as I don’t see any difference between the guns.
Magazine Release
These magazines are identical. Magazine releases can be switched to the other side. You can switch the magazines around if you are a left-handed shooter. It will be easier for smaller hands to access the magazine release on Sig P320 X Compact vs X Carry. One thing I will mention is that my larger hands make it feel a little sharper on the front edge for the magazine release on Sig P320 X Compact.
Sig P320X CompactsNew and Pre-Owned
Sig P320s In StockGuns.com
My hand hits the magazine release at an angle because of the smaller grip. This problem is not present on the X Carry. However, it can happen if my grip is too tight so that the magazine release hits in the same way as the Sig P320 X Compact. This is something you might want to be aware. It’s not a huge deal, but you should check it out at the gun shop if you’re interested in these guns.
Magazine Well Sig Sig P320 Compact vs. X Carry
Both guns have identical magazine wells. These magazine wells have a slight flare and are second to none for the Glock Gen 5 series. They are superior to any other striker-fired polymer gun on the market. The Glock is the exception, as I mentioned earlier.
Quality
These guns have identical build quality. These guns are the same guns. The frames on these guns are a little cheap, but that’s my only complaint about quality.

Aftermarket
There will be more aftermarket options available for the X Carry simply because there are more guns. Both will have many aftermarket options. Although technically the X Carry frames can fit on the Sig P320 X Compact the frame will still extend beyond the slide. Parker Mountain Machine makes mini comps that fit into that extra space. Both guns have tons of aftermarket options.
Aesthetics
The Sig P320 X Compact is my favorite gun, but I prefer it aesthetically to the X Carry. It just seems more proportional, but it really comes down to personal preference. They are both quite proportional. You can also look at the photos and decide which one you like best.
Shooting
There is no doubt about shooting these guns. If you have larger hands, the Sig P320 X Compact is a more comfortable gun. The Sig P320 X Compact, on the other hand, is more comfortable to shoot if your hands are smaller. It really does matter what size your hand is, because that will determine which gun you buy.

Despite the extra 0.3 inches on X Carry, you don’t notice any difference in the recoil between the two guns. I don’t see any difference between the guns. The grip length is what will make the biggest difference. I feel a little more secure with the Sig P320 X-Carry.
It shoots a little better for me. The Sig P320 X Compact, in my opinion is one of the most powerful guns available if you have smaller hands. It will be easier to reach the controls than a Glock 19. This is the only gun in its class other than the Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 Compact.
The Sig P320 X Compact will still be easier to control than any of these guns, according to me. Ultimately, neither gun is better than the other. They are just better for certain purposes. The Sig P320 X Compact is a smaller gun. However, if you want something larger and easier to use if your hands are larger, the Sig X Carry is a better choice.

Price/Value
The X Carry has been discontinued. You’ll need to search the secondary market for it or make a clone. This is a Compact/Carry length slide with a Sig Flat Trigger Shoe and Siglite sights. A Sig P320 X Compact is available for $620 and an MSRP $679.
If you don’t care about adding an optic, you can buy a base model Sig P320 Carry/Compact and spend about the same as the Sig P320 X Compact. However, if you want an optical ready model, you will need to buy the Sig P320RXP and add a flat trigger and X frame. You’ll also have back iron sights which are an advantage over the original X Carry and X Compact.
Although you will pay more to make an X Carry, if your hands are larger it may be worth it. If you don’t use the flat trigger shoe, it won’t be a problem.
