Sinclair Int’l Video Series Covers Key Reloading Techniques

Sinclair International has produced a series of videos that illustrate the basics of metallic cartridge loading. The 8-Part Series starts with reloading fundamentals and provides step-bystep, how-to instructions to help new reloaders start. The detailed, animated illustrations will show you exactly what happens in the chamber during shooting and inside the dies at each step of reloading. These videos are available on Sinclair International’s YouTube channel. Bill Gravatt, then Sinclair Int’l president (now at Creedmoor Sports), hosts each of the Sinclair Videos. Bill tells you not only “how” but also “why”. The how-to segments include case inspection, die set up, primer installation and measuring, bullet seating and crimping. They also cover record keeping for the handloader. “We wanted to show shooters who hadn’t reloaded before the benefits of making your own ammo, and how easy it was to get started,” said Gravatt. “Without telling them that they had to use any specific brand or type equipment to do the task.” Part 2 — Intro to Reloading Safety

Part 3 — Metallic Cartridge components

Part 4 — The Firing Sequence

Part 6 — Loading Bottle-Neck Cartridges (2 Videos)

Below is Part 5 of a video series that covers the tools used in precision reloading. Part 4 Video is also highly recommended for readers who are just getting started with reloading. This “How Things Work’ segment covers the sequences of events that occur inside the barrel and chamber when the cartridge is fired. The video contains helpful graphics that illustrate what happens to the cartridge, primer, powder and bullet after the round is fired. The video explains “headspace” as well as how it can change after firing. This video will answer many common questions, and help reloaders better understand the forces that are at work on brass during the firing process.
