Close Fought for 11 Years and 11 Days, the Mexican War of Independence was not unlike ours. The conflict led to Mexico’s independence form Spain, much like the United States’ independence against Britain. The Mexican Empire was established on the Mexican mainland, which ended in 1821. Mexico became a federal republic in 1823 after a constitution was created and the monarchy was overthrown. Spain attempted to conquer Mexico but Isabella II of Spain recognized Mexico’s independence in 1836. The SK Customs The Emperor 1911 commemorates this rich history. RELATED STORY SK Arms Lose States of America Engravers Series Jacinto Sam Houston SK Customs The Empire 1911 Limited to 200 pieces, The Emperor tells the story of Agustin de Iturbide, who commanded the Army of the Three Guarantees. He is also responsible for preventing the Spanish from governing over Mexican native lands. Agustin was also the first Mexican to sign the Declaration of Independence. He was the First President of Mexico’s Regency and later the First Emperor. The full-size Government Model Colt 1911 is chambered in.38 Super and features intricate details that illustrate the conflict. The slide and frame are high-polished black, which highlights the silver-plated artwork and hardware. The black frame also makes the pearlite grips featuring the emblem of the legendary Rampant Colt stand out. The slide’s left side has an intricate scroll pattern that frames an image of Iturbide leading the Army of the Three Guarantees to Mexico City after their victory. The words “Ejercito Imperial De las Tres Garantias” are just below the scene. The shield of the House of Iturbide is engraved behind the rear slide serration. The slide’s right side features custom scroll work that leads to the Eagle on Mexico’s Coat of Arms. The Mexican War of Independence artillery are depicted just forward of the eagle. The Imperial Crown of Mexico is located just behind the rear serrations. It displays each gun’s unique edition number. The slide’s top features a portrait of Iturbide, in uniform, with the words “Agustin De Mexico” below. The original bell rang by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in order to trigger the war call is located just forward of the rear view. The single word “Independencia” is found in the scroll below the bell.
