October 6th 2023On the 7th of October, Smith & Wesson celebrates its Grand Opening at its new Tennessee headquarters and production center. The Grand Opening will include a shooting event, product demonstrations and fun events. Smith & Wesson has been based in Springfield since 1852. A big change is happening now. The company announced that in September 2021, it would move its headquarters, distribution, assembly and other major operations from Massachusetts to East Tennessee. The Smith & Wesson Headquarters Grand Opening and Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 7, from noon to eight p.m., at 1852 Proffitt Springs Road, Maryville, TN. According to The Shooting Wire, “The new Maryville facility will house the company’s headquarters, as well as plastic injection molding, long gun and pistol assembly, and distribution centers.” Springfield, Massachusetts will continue to be the company’s home. All forging, metal finishing, machining and revolver assembly will still take place there. There will still be more than 1,000 S&W workers, but the number of employees is a significant decrease for the facility that has been home to S&W since 1832.
