Springfield’s compact carry option just got more punchy with the release the XD–M Elite Compact OSP.45ACP. Recent years have seen CCW pistols become smaller, lighter and more optics-ready. The Springfield Hellcat has been a strong competitor in the micro-9mm market, but the company’s XD–M Compacts have also been a popular carry option. Previously available only in 9mm or 10, Springfield now offers the XD-M Elite compact OSP.45ACP. It features fully ambidextrous controls and a flared magwell. The META trigger is the same as on other XD–M guns. The XD-M Elite Compact.45ACP is similar to other compact XD-M pistols. It has a 3.8-inch hammer-forged bar. Picatinny rail and Fiber Optic front sights are standard features on the XD-M Elite Compact.45 ACP. The flared magazine well on this XD-M Elite Compact.45 ACP can also be removed. It will make the pistol easier to carry, and it will also allow it to be used with Springfield’s extended 13 round mags. Two 10-round, flush-fit magazines are included in the box. The standard capacity of the gun is 11+1. Springfield offers plates for the Vortex/Burris footprint, as well as the Leupold/Shield, Trijicon/Holosun and Leupold/Shield patterns. These plates can be mounted on the XD-M Elite Compact.45 ACP in any of the three patterns. Springfield also offers a package that includes an optic already installed. The bundle includes a Hex Dragonfly Red Dot Sight. This package costs $100 less than buying them separately.
