The new MPS pistol red dot from Steiner Optics features a metal, fully enclosed construction to endure the rigors of combat in any environment.Dauerhaft is German for “durable”, and it’s clearly the word Steiner had in mind while developing the new MPS (Micro Pistol Sight) red dot. In the past few years, pistol red dots have been divided into two main styles: enclosed and open. Although open-style sights are smaller and lighter than closed-style ones, they offer less toughness. It’s not surprising that Steiner has been a regular supplier of equipment for military and police forces. The new MPS is rugged and tough.
The Steiner MPS is made from all-metal and reinforced with two metal sidewalls. The sight window is sealed completely and recessed beyond its hood to protect both the emitter and lens. The MPS is waterproof up to 10 m and has the best-in-class shock rating.
The MPS, like all Steiner red dots has excellent glass quality and true 1X magnification. The emitter produces a 3.3 MOA dot with six day and night vision brightness settings. These can be easily adjusted using the buttons on the housing’s side. The compartment is located on top of the optic so it is easy to switch the CR1632 batteries. However, the 13,000-hour battery life at medium settings means that you won’t need to change it as often as necessary. The optional auto-off feature can be used to extend the battery’s life. It weighs only 58g.
