Sunday Gunday: December Pride & Joy Rifles

December 4, 2022
New.300 WSM F Class rifle, with stock finish by Forum member Cigar Cop. One of the most popular features in our Shooters Forum is the Pride and Joy Rifle thread. Forum members have shared photos and descriptions of their most prized firearms since 2009. Here are some of the most beloved “Pride and Joy” rifles that have been featured in our Forum. Are you a gun enthusiast? Do you have a gun you’d like to see featured on the Forum? The block is attached to the tubular fore-end, so that the rifle rides smoothly and steadily on the Rodzilla T–Rex joystick front rest. A Forum member Aeon tells us that the proud owner is a Gary Eliseo RTM Chassis with pickle forks. It was custom Ceracoat painted to match my slinggun. The key components include the Pierce Engineering long-action tube receiver, Bartlein 1?8.5?-twist barrel and Jewell trigger set at 2. oz. Vortex Golden Eagle scope with Vortex rings. Aeon says that Mark Chesesbro, Chesebro Rifles, cut the chamber. Mark sucked it very deeply so that the 180gr Bergers and 184gr Bergers would be seated where they belong. “Tuning the 7mm SAUM” and Recoil Reduction

Aeon, the owner, tells us that the 7 SAUM was “as easy as I have ever shot to find good loads for — H1000 gave me great consistency and tuning was very simple.” Recoil management was the biggest challenge when shooting this rifle. The 7 SAUM is very powerful and I had trouble finishing three relays with no form issues in the last. Although I had considered purchasing a RAD Pad, it would have required extensive machine work. The Falcon Strike is a recoil pad that is extremely effective. Gary Eliseo received the pad and had the butt plate made to fit. It’s a game changer! It is easy to shoot and has a significant reduction in felt recoil. Forum member Farmer Dave owns this gray-blue beauty. He wrote: “I got this 6.5×47 Lapua from my smith six months ago. It is the most accurate rifle I’ve ever owned. This rifle features: AG Composites CF stock; Stiller TAC30 action; Bartlein 5R bartlein barrel; TriggerTech Diamond trigger. A Trijicon Accupower riflescope is mounted on top. Henry.45-7 with Modern Buttstock, M-LOK handguard. Quest45’s elegant lever-action Henry.45-7 Gov and Glock 40 10mm. He posted this about his guns: “All that I need is a can bear spray.” The rifle comes with a red dot sight and ammo caddies. It also has a Ranger Point MLOK handguard and a modernized modular buttstock. These upgrades make it a modern Henry lever gun for 21st century. John V. from Scotland showed off a successful hunt using his.243 Winchester rifle. This rifle has a 26?-twist barrel. MTU 1:7.5?-twist barrel. He loaded Sierra 100gr Pro Hunter bullets and took this Roe Buck at 240 meters through a gap between the leaves. Forum member J.J.Coe owns this rifle. It represents the best of the art for 100/200 yard benchrest rifles. It is chambered for the 6 PPC cartridge which dominates short-range shooting. It features a carbon composite stock with a very low profile. The stock’s vertical centerline is very close to that of the barrel. This helps to keep the rifle’s center of gravity low, which allows it to recoil smoothly and with less hop in its bags. Note also the tuner on the barrel.Do-it-Yourself Paint Job, Done in the Bathroom at HomeMany eye-catching rifles start with a great paint job. JHN, a forum member, did this job. He wrote: “I went to local paint shops, some were expensive and some said guns were a no-no.” So I did it myself, my first Candy Apple red. The base collar is gold metallic and then the red. I didn’t have a good place to paint so I had no choice but to make do. The bathroom is perfect for hiding in the summer. I have to apologize for the red flakes in my bathroom. “Mauser M96, Quilted Maple Stock — For the Wife” We like this Mauser with Maple-stocked quilting from Forum member Steel Mover. He wrote: “Some people like synthetic and some prefer wood — I have both.” Here’s the wife’s quilted Maple 96 Mauser 6.5×55. While I was in the shop, my wife walked by and asked if she could build it for me. I replied, “Yes, dear,” and then I lost my rifle. “Patriotic.284 Shehane F-Open RigForum Member 1shot is proud to own this F-Classer. It has a Kelbly stock w/RAD, Shilen 1?8?-twist ratchet barrel with EC Tuner and X-treme 2-stage trigger, all mated up with a Kelbly Panda action. This dog is a good hunter!
