We think that everyone should have a Garand as part of their gun collection… Tomorrow, Christmas is coming. You’ll find this popular thread in our AccurateShooter forum: “Anybody Got Gun Stuff for the Holidays?” One post was about a very special arrival during Christmas week — an M1 Garand barreled-action. A Forum member was given this barreled action by a friend, and transformed it using a stunning woodstock and other components. This is a beautiful and successful holiday project. The owner, a volunteer armorer who is very skilled, assembled his M1 Garand in record-breaking time. “Well, my [Christmas] present to myself took three weeks to arrive in transit, but I picked it up at 1400 yesterday.” She was built into a rifle by 1530 ….”. You must be a U.S. citizen over the age of 18 and a member in good standing of an organization that has taken part in a “Marksmanship Activity” to qualify for an M1 Garand. It basically means that you have to join a club and take part in a match or clinic. All ages must provide proof of club membership. The marksmanship requirement does not apply to those over 60. M1 Garands can only be ordered via mail or official CMP Auctions. CMP also has two stores in which M1 Garands may be purchased over the counter. They will then be transferred to your FFL, according to state law. The three CMP locations are in Anniston (Alabama), Talladega (Alabama), and Port Clinton, Ohio.
