Sunday Gunday: Guns of the October CMP Western Games

October 8th, 2020Sunday Gunday – Guns of the October CMP Western GamesThe CMP Western Games Fall Classic event — featuring CMP Highpower Rifle Matches and CMP Pistol Matches – takes place next week on October 10-15, 2020 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona. The CMP has decided to bring the Western CMP Games to their original October time slot. The CMP’s last Western Games were held in 2023 in March, but there will be a fall Western Games in 2018, as has been the tradition. The results of the survey (155 submissions), which indicated that spring was preferred (65%) over fall (34%), led to the final decision. In the early months of the year, spring training for baseball can cause inflated costs for hotels, rental vehicles, and flights. An October event allows more affordable travel/accommodations for Western Games participants. This should allow more competitors the opportunity to enjoy Ben Avery. The 2023 October Western Games schedule will be condensed and include Garand, Springfield, Vintage & Modern Military Matches.Carbine Match
