This bolt assembly is amazing. It has a titanium shroud laser-engraved with a dragon-scale Titanium bolt knob and flanged stainless bolt body. This is the first time you’ve seen a Ruger Precision Rifle. TerryH, a forum member, has customized his Second Generation 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with a wicked, purple finish. He also added a snazzy, stainless/titanium-coated bolt and sleek HDPE (polymer-coated) bag-riders at the front and rear. Modifications to this Hot Rod Ruger do not stop there. Terry’s Hot Rod Ruger is a testament to his skills, which he learned from the job. “I work in the body shop and I have custom-painted everything for many years.” House of Kolor PBC 65 Passion Purple and black with Cerakote MC-161 Matte Clear are the colors of choice for this 6.5 CM RPR. Terry even painted his Bald Eagle Rest purple to match his Hot Rod RPR. Terry reports: “I am shooting an RPR 6.5 CM. It has a Patriot Valley Arms barrel measuring 26”. Josh at PVA will make a thread protector so I can remove my Mad Scientist brake. The buttstock has a Wiebad check rest pad and a V-Tab adjustable butt plate. Glass is a Vortex Gen I PST 6-23x50mm, but I have a Golden Eagle in layaway”. Visit this AccurateShooter Forum Thread to learn more about this build or ask TerryH any questions. Ruger Precision Rifle Modifications:
Passion Purple painted chassis and handguards
Patriot Valley Arms 26″ Barrel with Brake
Timney Trigger with Ambi Safety
Custom HDPE (Polymer), Bag-Riders Front and Rear
V-Tab adjustable Butt Plate and Wiebad Cheek-Pad
Seekins Rail Good Accuracy With Factory Ammunition
Terry reports that the RPR shoots.3 MOA at 100 yards with factory fed American Eagle 140s. Terry plans to handload for the rifle in order to compete in F-Class matches. “I’ve shot steel to 1140 yard on the range, but [I’m not sure] if this will translate well to a match.” I’m committed in practicing as much as possible and shooting some matches in 2018.” Front and rear bag-riders with Protektor rear bag and upgraded Bald Eagle rest
Terry has designed a sleek set-up to be used for F-Open competitions and load testing. The Bald Eagle rest is upgraded with a windage knob mod and stainless F-Class foot. It also has longer adjusters. Terry “changed all the hardware to stainless and added two levels”. Terry uses a Protektor Doctor with 1” spacing between the ear holes in the rear. Terry’s custom HDPE bag-riders are impressive: “I realized the buttstock wasn’t going cut it for the rear bag, and even though I bought the 2 1/4″ front bag, and the Seekins Rail is 2″ wide and flat it wasn’t stable or smooth like I wanted.” So Terry made front and rear bag riders from HDPE which is a similar material to Delrin. Terry will change the front unit from 2.25′ to 3′. “I decided to get a 3-wide front bag and mill a brand new front bag-rider.” I will mill a recess in the bottom and the center to fit the handguard. Terry says that the rifle handles much better now with the bag-riders, and he plans on increasing the front sled’s width to 3”. Bling is the thing. The Hot Rod Ruger bolt assembly is shown below. It has a custom flat-fluted shaft, a laser-engraved Titanium shroud, and a Titanium dragon-scale handle with brushed stainless steel. Terry confesses, “I can’t resist shiny things!”
