She was the National Overall Woman Champion and won the NRA Three-Position Women’s Smallbore Championship. She used to shoot for the American team in World Cup competition. Kirsten began shooting in high school quite late. Despite her late start, she was accepted on the University of Nebraska’s shooting team. Kirsten was able to see a whole new world. I have been to World Cups in Zagreb, Croatia and Munich, Germany. I have won National Championships and made it to the U.S. Olympic shortlist. It’s been a great career. Kirsten provides key tips for accurate shooting in the sections below. In the first section, she discusses the importance of dry fire practice and gives tips on dry-fire technique. Consistent rifle cant (Tilt from the Centerline) Kirsten claims that most training manuals don’t explain rifle cant. Most shooters don’t think about it, and they’re missing out. Proper Rifle Cant, or Gun Cant, also known as scope cant or cant error, is a complex topic. I’ll explain it briefly and show you how to avoid cant error. How to aim a gun correctly? This accuracy tip focuses on a critical aspect of marksmanship. Even with “perfect aim”, if your rifle is not consistent from shot to shot, your point of impact will change. This episode is part of Kirsten’s How to Shoot Awesomely video series. Kirsten explains that finger placement on trigger trigger can make a huge difference. This is because depending on where your index finger is on the trigger, it can translate to different muscle interactions with gun. This video will show Kirsten demonstrating proper finger placement and addressing problems caused by incorrect finger positioning. To avoid muscle engagement and ensure smooth shots, you should only engage the last section. There is a “sweet spot” that lies between the first joint (crease) and the tip. You should notice an increase in accuracy if you place the trigger in this “sweet spot”. Kirsten is a gifted shooter who started shooting very late.
