Sunday Gunday: S&W’s new M&P FPC 9mm Folding Carbine

March 5, 2023 Sunday Gunday: S&W’s new M&P 9mm Folding CarbineSmith & Wesson just introduced an innovative, all-new folding rifle, the M&P 9mm carbine. Pistol-caliber carbines have been very popular right now. 9mm Luger (9x19mm), ammo is cheap at $15-$18 per 50rd bulk box. This is a fraction of what it costs to buy.223 Rem, 6.5-7 Creedmoor, and.308 Win ammo. There are plenty of factory 9mm ammunition available so you won’t have to search hard for powder or primers. A complete factory-loaded 9mm Luger cartridge (at $0.30-$0.36 each round) is less expensive than the bullets you would put in a 6mm or6.5mm rifle cartridge. You can shoot the exact same ammunition in your rifle and pistol. It makes it easier to have a great day at the range. It’s also easier to have a fun day at the range. Twin slots in the FPC’s buttstock can hold 17-rd or 23-rd magazines compatible for S&W 9mm pistols. That’s cool. The best part? When folded, the FPC Carbine from S&W is only 16 3/8 inches. S&W ships the new FPC in a zippered case with four pockets. The new M&P FPC comes with a nice, padded carry bag at a very affordable $659.00. Your optics will stay put. Smith & Wesson explains that the side-folding mechanics… provide a unique feature and allow the user keep their sight system mounted to the gun in both the extended and folded positions. This new pistol carbine is a great addition to M&P’s M&P family. It has extra magazine storage in its buttstock, familiar M&P Fire controls, and reliable palm-swell grip adaptors. The barrel measures 16.25 inches. The barrel is 16.25? The FPC features an integrated recoil buffer system to reduce felt recoil.
It is a great advantage that the FPC carbine can be used with pistol magazines. John Myles, S&W’s New Product Manager, said that Smith & Wesson wanted to create a pistol carbine compatible with different M&P series pistol magazines. S&W M&P 9mm FPC Features
