TESTED: CRKT CEO Compact carbon Fiber Boardroom EDC with s35VN

GIVEAWAY UMAREX AIRABER ELITE 2 + $250 VIKTOS GIFTCARD Close. If you’re anything like me, you always have a knife with you wherever you go. The problem is usually with formal occasions. A knife that is both functional and stylish will be the best choice. This can be a difficult task. The CRKT CEO Compact Carbon Fiber and S35VN answer the call. RELATED STORY: CRKT Piet EDC Knife Now Available in Blue Colorway With D2 Tool Steel CRKT Chief Executive Officer Compact Carbon Fiber The CEO isn’t a new design. The CEO was actually introduced to the market in 2019 with a 3.35 inch blade. The original Compact Carbon Fiber was sleek and had a businesslike look. However, it has a smaller footprint. The original measures 4.35 inches closed. The Compact measures 3.57 inches closed, which is almost an inch less than the original. This makes a big difference in dress slacks. The Compact has a similar saber grind to the original. This is complemented by a full-length, swedge. The Compact upgrades the blade steel from S8 to S35VN. S35VN is well-known for its combination of toughness, hardness and corrosion resistance. The Compact’s.09-inch blade stock also gives it an extremely sharp edge. The Compact’s 2.62-inch drop-point blade is another advantage over the original. Compact is legal in most countries, and can be used in almost all social settings due to its under 3-inch blade. The blade is activated via a flipper, and locks up on the IKBS pivot. Although the action is smooth, I have noticed that the detent’s depth requires a lot more pressure to release the blade. The steel liner lock keeps the Compact locked up once it is opened. The carbon fiber handle scales replace the original glass-reinforced nylon. It improves the overall appearance and is lightweight and strong. Copper anodization of the steel liners gives it a classy appearance, which also improves the overall aesthetics. The reversible, tip-up only, deep-carry pocket clip has a black coating that virtually disappears when worn with black dress pants. Performance The Compact is not a daily utility knife that you will use frequently, but they should perform well if you plan to carry knives. I chose to test the Compact in a more office setting and smaller knife. However, I would not hesitate to put it to slightly more rigorous use. It would have to be proportional to the blade length. The Compact is not likely to be designated as a letter opener. However, opening mail is a common practice in any office or home. Manilla envelopes circulate in the office like air, so it is not surprising that manilla envelopes are popular. To test the sharpness of the manilla envelope, I began by cutting it multiple times. The double-ply envelope (both sides) cut clean, long strips. I don’t recall ever having to cut leather in an office setting, but it represented thick material. I used some heavy-duty leather that I had lying around and was able cut multiple strips. Next, I tried a test of edge geometry using a phonebook corner slice. The edge is sharp and the blade stock thin, but I couldn’t push through the corner. To get around it, I had to use slicing motions. This is due to the handle being too large and not being able get much leverage. I cut some paracord to test the knife’s ability to make clean cuts. Because knife review is so hard work, I made a snack of cheese, venison sausage and grapes. It was very easy to slice and tasted delicious. Straight to the Point. Although the original CRKT CEO was a sleek design which fits in an office environment, Compact Carbon Fiber excels. Its sleek design and elegant aesthetics can be worn with any outfit and it is legal in almost every country. People won’t be alarmed if you take it out to open one the manilla envelopes that circulate the office. The price of the Compact Carbon Fiber is higher than the steel upgrade, but it’s still a great value. The Compact Carbon Fiber from CRMT is a stylish, yet functional, product.
