Enter to Win: JULY FREE GUN FRIDAY – Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical & Caldwell AR500 Automatic Resetting Target Close The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that New York’s restrictive concealed carry permit law “may issue” was invalid. New York must now rewrite its law in order to make it less restrictive in issuing CCWs. Other restrictive states now follow the new precedent. Many are now left trying to find the best concealed carry handgun–many of them for the first time. We are here to help you get started. RELATED STORY BREAK: SCOTUS Confirms Constitution in NYSRPA v Bruen Decision Best Handgun to Concealed Carry As with all things, choosing the right handgun can be very subjective. Everybody has different needs and tastes. Some people may prefer a larger.45 ACP, while others may prefer something that they can carry around with them. There are also those who want something in-between. We will give you many options by choosing from several categories. As I said, picking the right gun for you is an individual thing. It would be impossible for me to list all pistols, so I will only list those that I believe are good choices. You can also see other great options in the Facebook post. You can comment with your specific needs and ask for others’ opinions. We have a great community that will help you. Springfield Hellcat Pro (9mm). The Springfield Hellcat Pro is the most popular striker-fired pistol on the market. The popular handgun was too small and did not have the capacity many wanted. Springfield created the Hellcat Pro to address this problem. The Pro, which is slightly larger than the 9mm Luger, has a 15 round magazine capacity and is easy to fire. The Pro doesn’t compromise on conceal carry as its extremely thin frame hides away well. The grip is still 1-inch thick, even with the double-stacked magazine. The Pro has a front night view and a rear Tactical Rack U-Dot. An optic cut on the slide lets you choose from the most popular and small red dots on market. MSRP: $634.00 For more information, please visit Springfield-Armory.com. Glock 19 (9mm). If you are looking for something a little bigger, the Glock 19 might be just what you need. The Glock 19’s barrel is 4.02-inches longer than the Hellcat Pro’s. The slide does not have an optic cut, so the longer sight radius allows for greater accuracy. Glock is not known for having an external safety. However, the Safe Action trigger safety reduces the risk of accidental discharge. Glock 19’s standard magazine capacity is 15 rounds in 9mm. The model is also available with optional 17, 19, 24, 31, 31 and 33-round magazines. MSRP $688.00. For more information, visit US.Glock.com. SIG Sauer P365X (9mm). I must admit that I am a huge fan of SIG Sauer and this list would not be complete without one or two. The P365X weighs in at 17.8 ounces and is a great lightweight option for those who don’t want to carry too much. It is also compact at only 1.1 inches thick and can be concealed carried easily. For a crisp, clean trigger pull, the 9mm pistol has an XSERIES flat trigger, with a 90-degree break. The P365X has XRAY3 Day/Night sightings and an optic cut on its slide. The rear sight is attached to the optic plate so co-witnessing with the optic installed is not possible. It includes two 12-round magazines for 12+1 capacity. MSRP: $679.99. For more information, please visit SIGSauer.com. Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O. (9mm) The compact Taurus GX4 Optic Ready, a great option for budget-minded shooters. But, budget is not a term I use. Taurus has made a lot of progress over the years to create a platform that can compete with the best. You can also carry your Taurus comfortably with its three points of safety, strikerblock, trigger safety and visual loaded chamber indicator. T.O.R.O. T.O.R.O. stands for Taurus Optic Ready Option. This allows you to mount your favorite optic. The GX4’s small size makes it ideal for concealed carry. It is smaller than the other models in this size and only has a 10+1 round capacity. This makes it ideal for prohibitive state like New York or California. MSRP: $468.18. For more information, please visit TaurusUSA.com. Bond Arms Stinger (9mm,.380 ACP). The Derringer-style handgun is a well-known and trusted brand in the United States. The Stinger is a perfect example of this. It comes in 9mm and.380 ACP. The Stinger, despite being a basic pistol, is half the weight of the Bond Arms Derringer model. It will fit easily into your pocket, provided you have the right holster. This pistol is a two-shot gun due to its double barrel design. It is also a single-action pistol, meaning that each shot requires you to cock the hammer. It is still a good defensive pistol, but it lacks the capacity to make it a good backup pistol. It is also more affordable. MSRP: $389.00. For more information, visit BondArms.com. Ruger LCP MAX,.380 Another great option for pocket carrying (with the right hoistster), or IWB (Inside The Waistband), is the Ruger Ruger LCP Max. Because of its small size and reliability, the Ruger LCP Max has been a popular choice for many years. The pistol’s limited capacity is a problem. The Max improved this by increasing the capacity from 6+1 to 10. The LCP Max is a small gun chambered in.380 Auto. The LCP Max’s 5.17-inch overall length will result in a shorter sight radius which will affect your aim. To help improve accuracy with the Max, Viridian offers a trigger guard-green laser sight. MSRP: $469.00. For more information, please visit Ruger.com. SIG Sauer P238 two tone CA compliant (.380 Auto). This 1911-inspired pistol is designed with concealed carry in mind. The P238’s small size will fit comfortably in a pocket with the right holster or IWB, just like the LCP Max. The P238 weighs in at 15.2-ounces and leaves little footprint in the pocket. The P238’s 3.8-inch sight circle makes it more difficult to aim. Viridian also makes a trigger guard laser scope for the P238, just like the LCP Max. The P238 is also chambered in the.380 Auto and has a capacity for 6+1 magazines. It is ideal for prohibitive states because of its smaller capacity. MSRP $699.00. For more information, please visit SIGSauer.com. Smith & Wesson 642 (.38 Special +P). While revolvers can fail, it is much less common than semi-auto pistols. I love revolvers like the Smith & Wesson 642 Airweight double-action revolver. The pistol can be carried on your hip or in your pocket thanks to its lightweight alloy frame. As I keep reminding you, if you have the pistol in your pocket, please carry it in a holster. The shrouded hammer is easy to carry, no matter how you carry it. It is worth noting that while the frame may be lighter, firing.38 Special +P will still work. The limited capacity of revolvers is a drawback worth noting. This is true for the 642 Airweight’s 5-round capacity. A speed loader or two may not be a bad idea. MSRP: $532.00. For more information, visit Smith-Wesson.com. Springfield XD.S MOD.2 3.3 Inch Single Stack With Crimson Trace Red Dot (0.45 ACP). If you want to carry small but still shoot big, the XD.S MOD.2 by Springfield Armory is a great choice. The XD-S Mod.2 is chambered in.45 ACP and features a narrow single stack frame which can be concealing easily. The slide comes with an optic cut and the Crimson Trace red dots installed. The XD-S Mod.2 has a 5+1 capacity due to its slim profile and.45 ACP chambering. A 6-round magazine is also possible. The lower capacity magazine is legal in states with restrictive capacity, making it ideal for states that have recently expanded concealed carry. MSRP: $568.00 For more information, please visit Springfield-Armory.com. North American Arms NAA-22MSVL (.22 Mag). North American Arms has been a leader in pocket power for a long time. A NAA.22 Mag is something I carry and it practically disappears in my pocket. Reliability is a major advantage, just like any revolver. Like any revolver, there is also the issue of capacity. The 5-round capacity of the NAA-22MSVL is chambered in.22 Magnum. This gun is not the kind of gun you would use to engage in a shootout. This gun was designed for close-range defense. Although the.22 Mag is quite powerful for a small handgun, the rubber grip allows you to keep your grip while firing. The NAA-22MSVL is small and difficult to aim at. This model has a Viridian laser grasp to help you reach further. The round to keyhole effect can be caused by the shorter barrel lengths of North American Arms Line. Even with the laser grip, this gun is still intended for close range. MSRP: $375.00 For more information, please visit NorthAmericanArms.com. Remember to practice Remember that a firearm is only an equalizer. It is not the brains of the operation. It is important to practice to learn how to safely use your new pistol. You should also remember that you need to strike the criminal and not innocent bystanders if you are in self-defense. It is essential to be familiar with gun safety before you handle a firearm. These firearms can be dangerous, but proper gun safety can help to avoid accidents and make your experience more enjoyable. We offer our Gun Primer, a free resource for new shooters. Download a copy.
