The CRKT Squid II offers high-end Italian construction and EDC usability

CRKT has released the Squid II, a bold reimagining the classic Squid knife. It also includes notable upgrades. The new Squid II combines the convenience of an EDC knife with the high-end custom’s attention to detail. It is limited to 500 copies so get yours while you can. The CRKT Squid II Made In Italy, the Squid II has many refinements and upgrades over the original. It measures 6.97 inches in length, which is more than the original. The Squid II is distinguished by its exquisite machining and rounded spine. It offers comfort and refinement that are unmatched in the Squid family. The slightly rounded Micarta Scales allow for extended, comfortable use. Bohler M390 premium construction provides excellent edge retention and wear resistance. The 2.68-inch blade is 2.68 inches in length. The little workhorse is strengthened by the.15-inch thick stock. The sharp edge is made possible by the flat grind, which makes it ideal for slicing tasks. The blade locks onto CRKT’s IKBS bearing pivot mechanism with a titanium pivot ring for smooth, quick blade deployment. It also features a thumb stud and a flipper for blade deployment. The blade is locked in lockup once it is opened by a liner lock, which is a first for Squid lines. The titanium backspacer has an extended lanyard hole that sets off the titanium pivot ring. The Squid II weighs in at 4.8 ounces and has a closed length measuring 4.25 inches. It is held in place by a deep carry pocket clip. The pocket clip cannot be reversed and is only available in right-hand tip up carry. Doug Flagg, CRKT’s VP of Marketing & Innovation, said that the Squid II was “far and away” one of our best knives. “This knife combines decades worth of design experience with our aspirations as a brand. We’re confident that it will last the test of time.” Editor’s Note: This knife is limited to 500 copies. Knowing CRKT, I don’t think they will last very long. It is more expensive than the original Squid but it has better construction and materials. It is also limited in production. This all adds up and makes it an investment that will last a long time and will often only appreciate.
