The Magpul MS1 Light Sling provides full on-the-go versatility

There are two types people in the world. There are two types of people in the world: those who only take their rifles for a short walk at the range, and those who train. A simple nylon strap from a bargain basement will suffice for casual users of modern carbines. They are cheap and can be used as decoration. A serious sling is essential for those who train with rifles. The Magpul MS1 Lite Sling is suitable for both types.

The Magpul MS1 Lite Sling

Some of you are shaking your heads and saying “Amen, brother” because you’ve been there. You sign up for a class, and you bring your bullet slinger. It is a poor sling. You spend the next X amount of days cursing the sling and wondering what it did to your neck.

You leave the class determined to get out of your ghetto slinging and into something more professional. My friends, I feel your pain because it is something I have experienced. There are many options, but the Magpul MS1 Lite Sling is a good choice.

The MS1 sling is the most versatile of the Magpul rifle slings. It is designed around the MS1 slider. This system allows for quick adjustments to lengthen or reduce the sling without slipping once it is set. There are no tails, loops or other potential snag hazards.

The MS1 is easy to use for shoulder transitions and quick adjustability for hands-free rifle carrying. It also supports shooting support from different positions. It also comes with a variety of adapters, each sold separately, and is based on the Magpul MS3 or MS4 slings. You can easily customize your MS1 to fit your needs and carry it by adding the appropriate adapter.

The sling had been subject to tens of thousands cycles in wet, dry, or sandy conditions during Magpul’s testing. Static load testing without slippage for 72hrs and six-foot dynamic drops tests with weighted six feet were also included.

They did not only perform controlled lab tests but also jumped, swam, hunted, hiked into the mountains, and, most importantly, shot in various rugged field conditions.

The Versatility and Versatility of the MS1 Lite Sling

The MS1 is a versatile sling. Magpul has adapters that allow you to make it a two-point or one-point sling.

The best thing about this sling for me is its ability to be adjusted. Traditional slings are difficult to adjust once the length has been set. This can be problematic if you need to make a transition or move between shooting positions.

The slider allows you to quickly adjust the length of the sling to suit different applications. It’s quick and easy to use. This is a great way to transition from the strong side of shooting to the support side.

After I’m done with what I need, it is easy to return to my normal carry position and tighten the strap down for a more secure hold. I like the modularity of the sling. You can use adapters to make it work if you only need one point.

It is easy to switch adapters if you wish to return to the original two points. There is no longer a need to have two separate slings.

Magpul – Enough Said

Last but not least, I want to mention that these are Magpul products which gives them instant street cred. They are American-made, and they are snag-free. You won’t feel the razor-like effects that rough nylon can cause.

These slings can also be used for military purposes. The webbing has Near Infrared treatment to reduce IR signature. It is not a major issue for most people, but it is an interesting feature that comes with the sling.

A good sling is a must-have piece of kit. I have spent over a billion hours with a rifle. This is not something you should do as an afterthought. Take your time to learn how to sling. The Magpul MS1 Lite is undoubtedly one of the most popular.
