The Provoke EDC joins the Provoke Line of Kinematic Files

Innovation is something CRKT never lacks, and its Provoke karambit line is a great example. The Provoke line uses a unique opening mechanism that looks like a transformer. It’s also a lot of fun to fidget around with. CRKT released the Provoke EDC to capitalize on the popularity of karambits. It offers a more utilitarian profile. The CRKT Provoke EDC The EDC uses the same engineering as the Provoke original line and utilizes the patented Kinematic mechanism. The knife opening is almost as much fun as it is brilliant. Your thumb will be in line with the upper bar when you place your finger in the oversized circle. When you press the crossbar, it lunges forward and launches the blade in the open position. In reverse grip, the process is the exact same. (Photo by CRKT). Once opened, the blade is locked in place via a discrete slide locking mechanism just forward of the ring. It is important to note that, while the Provoke can be opened with one hand, it requires two hands to close it. If you are doing a single-handed job, you will need to put it down until you close it. The Provoke EDC has an aluminum handle and reaches an overall size of 7.25 inches. The drop point blade has a full flat grinding, which provides a sharp edge. The EDC’s blade is 2.56 inches long, which makes it legal in most jurisdictions. It is a good idea, however, to check local laws and ordinances. (Photo by CRKT). The D2 blade is made of a high-carbon and high-chromium tool-steel that has been air-hardened. It is a combination of toughness, wear resistance and edge retention. It does this at a lower price than premium steel. The unique pocket clip nestles inside the ring to carry the 3.6-ounce Provoke EDC. The nestled clip ring is raised slightly at the end of the ring. The pocket clip will project from the side of your knife when you press the end. Release the ring to close it onto the lip of the pocket.
