The Quarter Circle 10 YKMF-5 Pistol is a Hard Sell

FREE GUN FRIDAY: WIN A NEW Beretta APXA1, Black Hills 9mm Luger HoneyBadger(tm), Ammo, and Caldwell Emax Shadows Pro! Close Last December, the age-old argument resurfaced. It wasn’t the 9mm vs..45ACP argument, nor was it about 1911’s or two World Wars. It was far more serious than that. The holiday season saw heated debate about whether Die Hard was a Christmas movie. Quarter Circle 10 channeled John McClane with their YKMF-5, regardless of whether it was a Christmas movie. RELATED STORY AP5 Century Arms: Officially Hits US Market the MP5-Style Pistol The Quarter Circle 10YKMF-5 This movie is a classic in the gun world because of many reasons. John McClane’s use our beloved H&K M5 is one of the most memorable. Although a true MP5 may not be within reach of most shooters, there are alternatives that can give us the same look. Quarter Circle 10, a new company in this area of the gun industry, is a newcomer. They are well-known for their pistol-caliber carbbine products. It is one of the most prominent companies in the PCC market, I would even argue. The company has created a completely new gun, the YKMF-5, using its vast design expertise. This gun is very MP5-esque and has many unique features. QC10 even went all Die Hard with the name. YKMF stands to “Yippie Ka Yay Mother F !#+*%”.”. You will never forget this name. Under the Hood Although it has an MP5 feel, the YKMF-5 is actually an AR pistol. It weighs in at 5.14 pounds, which means it has a lot of recoil. QC10 has a solution. The gun features their Adjustable Pistol Caliber Buffer Assembly. This buffer can be used with most pistol-caliber carbines. To ensure maximum reliability in multiple configurations, the buffer uses a quick-change weight control system. The YKMF comes with a QC10 barrel measuring 5.5 inches and a Dead Air Silencer micro brake. Bowden Tactical’s 4.25-inch handguard is used. This is one of the key features that gives this gun its MP5 appearance. This pistol comes with an SB Tactical PDW Brace. The gun also includes QC10’s Phase 5-90-degree ambidextrous safety chooser. This solid design can be configured for either right- or left-handed shooters and is interchangeable. This gun differs from its German counterpart in that it has a side charging handle. It is balanced in size and has a sufficient grip surface without being too protruding. The YKMF-5’s top features a Picatinny rail that runs the length of the gun. A small, hinged plate is located at the back of your receiver. This allows the bolt to be removed and re-installed. Want to learn more? Get your July/August issue today of Combat Handguns Magazine.
