Top 25 Sharp-Shooting 6.5 Creedmoor Rifles (2023)

Updated 3/10/2023Choices are abound when choosing the best 6.5 Creedmoor rifles. The 6.5 Creedmoor, have you heard of it? You may not have heard of the 6.5 Creedmoor. These are the only valid reasons you haven’t heard of the hottest cartridge since.30 met aught six. The cartridge is only half of the story. The other half is the amazing array of precision shooters that deliver the long-range wunderkind to where it needs to go. The 2020 Waypoint by Springfield Armory 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle OptionsThe 2020 Waypoint is a good example of how far the long-range craze can go. Springfield Armory’s bolt action hunter would look great in a precision match. Springfield didn’t invent the wheel, but used the proven Remington 700 as a base. It has extremely tight tolerances that allow for smooth-as glass operation. The fire tube is also a fire tube. Shooters have the option of a fluted stainless-steel barrel or an ultralight Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel. This gives shooters a very rigid system that allows for repeatable accuracy. Springfield also mates the barreled-action to a carbon-fiber stock with hybrid match profile. The rifle can be restrained more easily with a wider fore-end. A pistol grip improves control. A high comb (there is an adjustable version too) ensures a consistent cheek weld. The Waypoint is a great choice for anyone looking for a smooth trigger and a fast lock time. MSRP: $2,173; springfield-armory.comSavage Arms Impulse Big GameTypically, to pick up the pace with the 6.5 Creedmoor shooters shopped AR-10. Savage Arms offers the Impulse Big Game, a rare opportunity this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Straight-pull, this 6.5 Creedmoor rifle is just one tick below a semi-auto while still offering the benefits of a bolt action. This rifle is a solid-built system that can flex as hard as a semi-auto. It also has a thick-enough, medium-contour bar. With all the engineering Savage has put into the Impulse, you can expect this system to be unyielding to flex. The straight-pull uses six ball bearings rather than lugs and has an excellent lockup that can be operated as fast as the bolt will allow. Savage has an extra-large handle and a short linear throw to aid this process. The Impulse also has the extras shooters have come accustomed to on precision irons: threaded muzzle (5/8-24), fully adjustable stock (AccuFit), fully adjustable trigger (AccuTrigger), rigid hybrid chassis (AccuStock) and fully-adjustable trigger. The Impulse is a great choice for anyone who values speed and accuracy. MSRP: $14,49; Savagearms.comSako S20In past times, shooters had two options when it came to 6.5 Creedmoor rifles. One was for hunting and one was for match shooting. Sako took a look at the line and created the S20. The Finnish company may have created the first hybrid hunter/match rifle. The bolt-action rifle can switch between hunting and tactical configurations with its interchangeable chassis system. The thumbhole stock is great for hunting coyotes. The fully-adjustable tactical model is the best choice if you want to drill bullseyes at close range. Did we mention that you don’t need to reset the zero setting after switching? It’s pretty sweet. As you would expect from Sako, the S20’s overengineering extends beyond its interchangeable V bedding chassis system. These features include a solid three-lug bolt, cold hammer forged stainless-steel barrel, adjustable trigger, and an integrally machined optics train. The question is, which configuration is best for your objectives? MSRP: $1598; sako.fiRoam r-10 Great PlainsWhen driving from Grand Forks (ND), you are acutely aware of the enormity of the American West. Roam places a high value on portability in its gun designs, especially its AR-style AR6.5 Creedmoor rifle. The Peace Garden State gunmaker knows that you need to travel a lot to get meat. The R-10 Great Plains, a lightweight 6.5mm AR-10 (DPMS) variant, is light at 7.28 pounds. Roam uses lightweight magnesium alloys to make the handguard and receiver. The material has a strength comparable to aluminum and a third less weight. The material is lighter than aluminum and has a fluted 22-inch heavy barrel. This makes it more suitable for the 6.5 CM. You also get a lot of other assets like a Radian ambidextrous charging hand, Hogue pistol grip and Magpul stock with Limbsaver Recoil Pad. It’s probably the best AR hunter rifle. MSRP: $4,450, rockriverarms.comHenry Long RangerHenry Repeating Arms in a precision rifle list? Although it sounds crazy, the Long Ranger is a quality lever-action rifle. The 6.5 Creedmoor rifle is accurate to a bolt action, but has the speed and accuracy of a repeater. This bolt locks up almost exactly like a bolt-action. The 6-lug rotary head adds a level of consistency that is easily visible downrange. Henry Long Ranger has a 4-round magazine that Henry has integrated, making it safe to chamber the rifle 6.5 cm. The rifle is made from American walnut and features a richly-blued receiver and barrel of 22 inches. MSRP: $1243, henryusa.comMPA BAR PMR “Pro Competition Rifle” MasterPiece Arms commands respect and top dollar if you are involved in the Precision Rifle Series or even slightly follow it. The CROSS Rifle is a hybrid that combines the best of both match iron and mountain rifle accuracy with light weight. That’s a deadly combination.Ultra-lightweight, the CROSS Rifle tips the scales at a mere 6.5 pounds–around 40-percent less than anything else in its class. There are many more features, but it is clear that Sig has rethought this hunting rifle. MSRP: $1,871, danieldefense.comBadrock South ForkNot exactly cheap, but an incredible value, the South Fork 6.5 Creedmoor rifle teeters on custom-made performance. Badrock, a division within Defiance Machine, is well-known for its custom-made competition-grade actions. This company uses their expertise to put together the dead-nuts chassis while keeping the price reasonable. This is a difficult task that can turn a gunmaker’s hair grey early. The gunmaker attaches the action to a 26-inch match-grade stainless steel barrel and then fits them into a Modular Driver Technology LSSXL Gen2 chassis (which can be adjusted, of course). The system is designed to meet competition rifle standards, but it does require some compromises in order to be affordable. The scope base and muzzle device can be added to the purchase. There’s nothing to be unhappy about for the South Fork as it is. MSRP: $2,995, badrockrifles.comRuger Hawkeye Long Range TargetSince Ruger released the Long Range Target a few years ago, shooters have been champing at the bit for a 6.5 Creedmoor option. The wait is over. And the results, nothing short of magnificent.Originally released as a .300 Win. The Mag. Hawkeye is a light cruiserweight precision rifle that can launch the 6.5. The rifle’s 11-pound weight is absorbed by recoil and anchors like an ant. The rifle’s two-way adjustable comb with adjustable LOP ensures a perfect fit. You can attach it with QD attachment points or use the flush-fit M–Lok rail under your forearm to sling it up or accessorize it. The 6.5 Creedmoor rifle has a heavy contour stainless steel barrel and Ruger’s M77 action. It also boasts a one piece bolt. It has a controlled feed. It also includes a responsive, two-stage adjustable target trigger as well as Ruger’s Precision Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake. The Hawkeye is more than capable of 1/2 MOA accuracy. The M1500 Oryx is MDT’s monolithic aluminum Oryx chassis. Although it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, it does have what counts: spacer-adjustable length-of-pull, set-screw cheek riser, M -Lok mounting points under the forend, and a grip with molded. The custom job is one of the most innovative precision rifles you can hit in a spell. It’s not only built like a tank but is also among the easiest to use. It is also the heart of Seekins Precision’s production-class rifle, the Havak Bravo. It’s hard to imagine how the gunmaker manages to pull off the rifle, considering the price of the action at $1,200. Shooters still benefit. If speed shooting and accuracy are your goals, the Havok Action is a great choice. This is partly due to the unique helical extract cam that sends the bolt back as soon as it’s thrown. The 50/50 cocking mechanism is the other half of the equation. It splits the operation between bolt’s up- and down strokes. Seeking Precision marries the action and mounts them on a KRG Bravo chassis. The stock can be adjusted as expected. MSRP: $1,950, seekinsprecision.comSmith & Wesson M&P 10As far as 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 rifles are concerned, there are few that come close to what Smith & Wesson offers for the price. The M&P 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle, now in its second generation is a master of all trades. It is equally adept on a hunt and in matches. The best part is that the Performance Center creation doesn’t skimp. The Performance Center creation has everything you need to get the most out of the Creedmoor. This rifled is 5R, which should theoretically help preserve the bullet’s ballistic integrity once it leaves the barrel. The company moved the gas block forward to keep recoil under control. This allowed for shot-to-shot accuracy. Its 9.5-pound weight is a good compromise, allowing the rifle to still take up some of the kick but not making it heavy. The Smith & Wesson also boasts a Troy Industries 15 inch free floated handguard, and a respectable 2-stage match trigger. The stock is a Magpul MOE, which leaves little to be desired. This is a minor issue when you consider the rifle’s other pros. MSRP: $2,095, smith-wesson.comBarrett FieldcraftA backcountry rifle worth its weight in backstraps must be two things: accurate and light. This is not always the best way to achieve your goals. Barrett draws inspiration from NULA’s custom actions to help him lose weight. Because the action is designed around the cartridge, there’s no extra material to worry about. A thin No. You have a rifle that you can carry around all day. It doesn’t have all the benefits. Its lightness increases the 6.5’s generally mild-mannered recoil, but it is not too much. It is not enough to get you off the canyon wall with a second shot of that trophy bull.
