We are a long way away from 1980. Our manufacturing capabilities have seen significant advancements over the past 40 years, as well as the last five. Computer-controlled manufacturing and the new software tools are no longer limited to Big Auto with billions of dollars backing them. Ever-smaller companies are able to access tools that were once only available to the largest. This is due to the inevitable effects of economies of scale and price cuts from competition. Even more can stand on top of giants. One company can solve a problem and others will follow. This is true in all industries, COVID-cutbacks or not. Guns are no exception. The most reliable and affordable guns made in 2020 are far more reliable than anything produced 30 years ago. The quality gap is shrinking rapidly. One side effect is that we break fewer guns. And, it is true that we try to do this in every issue. This increases in reliability is passed directly onto consumers. Sig Sauer won the chassis-system title with their P320. However, other pistols are just as capable. In the past, a handgun’s success was guaranteed by running for more than 1,000 rounds without any malfunctions. The bar has been raised. The timing of a product’s release is crucial, even with all the modern options such as OEM optic-cut slide, ambidextrous controls and standard accessory rails. You might not be able to find a drop in trigger for them on Amazon, and your holster options may be limited if you don’t carry a weapon-mounted flashlight. However, there are some standouts that didn’t make it big for one reason or the other. All of them proved to be more reliable and accurate than their numbers would suggest. They also have advanced features such as optics-cut slide. We would gladly carry any of these guns on our hips. Top Four Underrated Carry Guns.CZ P10CThe tragically underrated CZ P10C carry pistol. It’s the cheapest pistol on this list and has a number of well-thought-out features. This makes it more affordable than some of its rivals who have had many generations of pistols to correct their mistakes. The P10C comes with steel sights, including a tritium front dot with plain serrated rear unit and a tritium front dots. It also comes with a hard-ledge that can be used for one-handed slide racking. This pistol also features one of the most reliable striker triggers we’ve ever seen. With no modifications, our sample gun consistently broke between 4 – 4.5 pounds. Although it was designed to work with Glock 19 holsters from the beginning, we had mixed results with this feature. Some brands of G19 sheaths will fit the CZ P10C as a glove. Others, however, are not as compatible. Although this was a useful workaround at launch, the P10C has been around for long enough that a few holster manufacturers have produced models specifically for the pistol. The stock frame texture is very effective and the ergonomics are a significant improvement over other guns in the class. We’re not sure why the CZ P10C hasn’t become more popular, especially since there’s an optically-ready model. It ticks all the boxes for modern CCW pistols. This includes a Picatinny frame, interchangeable backstraps, and ambi/swappable controls. The stock trigger is also very refined. The CZ P10C is a great choice for shooters who want a bedside or carry pistol that can be used straight from the register. These are the sidearms you should carry if you want a modern, high-performing handgun that is also stylish and fashionable. The CZ P10C is well-equipped and competitively priced. However, it remains second-class in a world where concealed carry is more common than ever.URL: cz.usa.comIWI MasadaIWI combined the best features of its rivals, whether they were intentionally or not, and integrated them into the Masada. It is the mating of the Sig Sauer P320 and FN 509 tactical, as well as the Glock 19X. These guns all have one thing in common: they were submitted to the U.S. Army for the 2015 XM17 Modular handgun System solicitation. The red-dot-ready 509 Tactical was announced in 2017. The 509T, which was optics-ready, was released in 2018. The serialized chassis of the P320 was Sig’s best feature. It can be removed from one frame and popped into the next without special tools. The Masada also has this feature, but you will have to pay a little more for the threaded barrel. It’s very ambidextrous, with slide stops and magazine release buttons on both sides. You don’t have to disassemble the pistol to change the mag release. You can swap out the backstraps to accommodate small, medium, or large hands. The Masada is compatible with all common-design mags and aftermarket mags. The Masada has a lot of potential and will soon be releasing more frames. This was probably the biggest flaw. Although the first version was not available to civilians, it did include an optics-ready slide and a threaded barrel. However, the APX’s trigger is quite good for a striker-fired plastic fantastic. This trigger is a mix of a custom-fit light trigger, and an old-school USGI trigger that actually functions. It’s better than the stock Gen3 Glock, but it’s still a little more powerful than the new Gen5. It is, however, perfectly acceptable. The trigger weight drops to just over 4 lbs due to the reduced-power spring. There is no double CR123 SureFire, Streamlight or double CR123 SureFire here. Tension cannot reach the front lug so you can’t rely on tension. The Insight APS-C can be removed from the box by using the striker release. This is undoubtedly a reaction to some concerns from law enforcement agencies about the need for Glocks to be pulled to perform basic takedowns. This feature is cumbersome in practice. You must hold the slide back slightly to drain the battery, while simultaneously using a tool or a pen to depress the plunger. You can also make sure the trigger is clear by using a tool to depress the plunger. If you are familiar with the Beretta 9/92, you will be right at home. Simply release the striker and push the lever to the left. Then, rotate the lever to the right. The slide will come off. The slide comes off easily. It was a great budget-friendly pistol. However, we had some issues with the slide’s quasi-decocker button. This is exactly where you would want to mount a red dots. The TP9SF was the next revision. It fixed that issue and added several ergonomic improvements such as an extended slide stop and a larger magazine release. SAI contributed a TP9SFX with a fluted barrel and carry-conscious magwell. Canik also added a new aluminum flat-faced trigger with zero creep which cleanly breaks at 5 pounds, new +3 magazine extensions, and either nitride or nickel-coating on all internal components and small parts.Unlike the other pistols mentioned here, Canik was thoughtful enough to include an OWB retention holster as part of the package deal–but we recommend skipping it as it features a trigger-finger-to-release system a la Blackhawk’s Serpa.A minor complaint we have is that the barrel is threaded in metric 13.5x1LH as opposed to 1/2x28mm. It’s an imported pistol, but even Glock & CZ now have ‘Merica options. The TP9 Elite Combat ships four adapter plates that will fit most MRDS available, including the Aimpoint Acro and the brand-new Trijicon MRcc. The Canik plates have a small charging handle that can be attached to either end. While we would not recommend it for gaming, it is a great feature. The plate does not allow for iron sights, which is likely why it wasn’t as popular as it should have. Target grids and bullseye sizes can be downloaded in MOA. This is a great option for long-range shooting. Enter your email address below.
