Most people who own a firearm now understand the importance and necessity of a good trigger pull. This is doubly true for handguns. That one little digit can make all the difference between a shot hitting the mark and a miss. It’s worth spending time perfecting a smooth, consistent, and accurate trigger pull. Jamie Caldwell’s trigger drill is a great antidote for endless hours spent squeezing on the switch. Caldwell, a former special operator and instructor with 1-Minute Out, has added pressure to his training. He does this by using a shot timer. The idea is to match the break to the countdown timer as closely as possible, as shown in the video above. The shooter should also objectively observe that they are keeping their sights on the target throughout the break. Although it sounds basic, this is a way to objectively assess your shooting performance and improve your ability to maintain a smooth stroke even under stress. This is important for most shooting situations, even those that are not at the range. Disclosure: Some links in this post may be affiliate links.
