Some people believe that green is more appealing to the eyes. Viridian Weapon Technologies is one such company. It is about to launch its new line reflex sights with a green dot. The company seems to be going all in on green. At the time of writing, there are no red dot options. RELATED STORY Viridian Laser Sights for the Springfield Hellcat are a Defensive Multiplier Viridian Viridian Reflex Sights equipped with Green Dot Technology. Available in three mounting options, the sights are made of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for tough-use operation. You can outfit any pistol with mounting options for Shield standard or RMR standard. Each model includes the tools to mount it, as well as a Picatinny mounting bracket for additional options. Each model is powered with a CR2032 lithium battery that provides 30,000+ hours of power. This is partly due to the auto-off feature, which kicks in after just two minutes. Each model also features Viridian’s INSTANT ON technology, which wakes the sight when it is moved. You can also manually turn the battery off if you wish to keep it charged while you are away. All three models have a 3 MOA green dot that has 8 and 2 night vision settings. You can expect perfect operation in any lighting condition. It can also operate at any temperature, from -4degF up to 130degF, and has an IPX6 water-resistant rating. Brian Hedeen, Viridian President, CEO, stated that green dots technology makes eyes see better and that they are excited about their reflex sites. “As with all Viridian products, we started with the design and added features and specs to these offerings to make them stand out in a crowded marketplace.” Editor’s note: I have never used a green dots reflex sight so I can’t speak for the improved visibility. It does look great against a green background like a field or trees. I can only imagine that they are onto something with green lasers after their success.
