Rare Breed Triggers Takes on ATF
The cease-and–desist order was issued July 26. It alleges that FRT-15 semi-auto triggers are actually machine guns. The order requires that Rare Breed Triggers stop all production and sales immediately. They will also create plans to address triggers that have been sold or distributed.
DeMonico argues that the FRT-15 can only fire one round per trigger function. This is the most important part of the definition of machine guns and it sets the groundwork for civilly violating the order.
Four subject matter experts were consulted by the FRT-15 team to ensure that the trigger conformed to guidelines. The FRT-15 is not a machine gun as per federal law. All experts agreed. The group included a former resident ATF agent in chief and a practicing attorney, who retired after 25 years of service.

DeMonico stated that “Our trigger is not a weapon as the ATF claims” and that we have complied with all laws throughout the manufacturing and production of the product. “What’s dangerous about the ATF is that it is not just enforcing law. It started under the Trump administration and continued through the Biden administration. The ATF and other agencies that are supposed to enforce law now believe they can reinterpret or change the law whenever they want.”
An Alarmed Public
DeMonico addresses concerned citizens who fear they will become felons in a video statement. He clarifies that having an FRT-15 doesn’t make you a felon. He points out that Rare Breed Triggers are the only entity subject to a cease and desist order. It is irrelevant to anyone who has an FRT-15 trigger.
Rare Breed Triggers has now filed a lawsuit. The litigation must be resolved before any decision can be made. Until the final ruling is made, the ATF cannot address FRT-15’s in circulation. He reminds us that there has not been a single prosecution or conviction of bump stock owners.
DeMonico stated, “We’re going see this through, since this is a battle to protect not just the second amendment but really all our freedoms.” “We are seeing more and more instances of our government’s agencies acting outside their authority to do so, and far to few seem to be standing up to our freedoms.”
