FREE GUN FRIDAY: GIVEAWAY BRETTA APX 500 ROUNDS OF MMO Close [embedded text] President Franklin D. Roosevelt called Pearl Harbor, “a date which will live forever in infamy.” Even though most people alive today are not born on that fateful date, the memory of it lives on. This day ignited American resolve. America went from being an agricultural nation to becoming a manufacturing powerhouse in a matter of hours. What better tribute than custom-made, unique SIG Sauer Pearl Harbor Commemorative 1911s? RELATED STORY Auto-Ordnance Victory Girls 1911 Pays Tribute Women of WWII The SIG Sauer Pearl Harbor Commemorative 112s were a tribute to the 1911, which was one of the most popular pistols used by the U.S. during World War II. Forces. To commemorate the United States’ involvement in the war, SIG Sauer joined with Best Defense Foundation to produce three unique 1911 pistols. Outlaw Ordnance SIG was able to commission the USS Oklahoma Commemorative pistol, USS Arizona Commemorative pistol, and the Pearl Harbor Commemorative pistol. Each pistol has custom engravings that pay homage to the historic day. Each 1911 is chambered in.45 Auto and comes with a Battleship Gray Cerakote matt finish. Fully functional pistols include an SAO trigger and front sights with Gold Dot Novak front sight. Wilson Combat serrated rear sights are also included. The grips were designed and manufactured by Chad Schumacher at Allegory Goods. They feature the logo of the Best Defense Foundation. They are made from teak decking, salvaged from the USS North Carolina, and add historical artifacts to the 1911s. The Pearl Harbor Commemorative pistol The slide engravings on this pistol are a beautiful way to signify the date of the attack and the time, 7:55. The time is displayed above the Union in the American Flag, whose stripes fade into the sea waters and the words “Pearl Harbor.” The slide’s reverse features an engraving of President Roosevelt signing a declaration of war. The date of December 7, 1941 is displayed above the portrait. Below the portrait is the date, December 7, 1941. The scene is surrounded by a backdrop of an oval, with calm sea waters as its backdrop. The obverse was kept simple with a tranquil ocean scene and 7:55 at its fore. The Arizona state flag is also located at the rear of both sides of the slide. Between the front sight and the ejection port, you will see a silhouette representing Arizona. The Japanese torpedo bombers struck the USS Arizona, which then detonated a munition magazine. The ship exploded violently, causing it to sink. The attack resulted in the deaths of 1,177 officers and crewmen. USS Oklahoma (BB-37) Commemorative Pistol. The slide of USS Oklahoma matches the slide of USS Arizona. Instead of the engraving of Arizona, there is a depiction the USS Oklahoma. The USS Oklahoma BB-37 designation is also located just above the still water. The reverse side also features 7:55 superimposed on a placid ocean. The slide of the USS Oklahoma, like the Arizona, features the Oklahoma state flag. In keeping with the theme, the USS Oklahoma features a silhouette representing Oklahoma on the top, between the front sight and the ejection port. The Oklahoma was deployed in World War I to defend allied convoys across Atlantic. Japanese torpedo bomber planes struck the hull, causing it capsize. 429 crew members died. Others jumped to safety and were rescued by hatches or drilling holes in the hull. Presentation SIG Sauer presented the pistols in presentation quality cases to the Best Defense Foundation. “It was an honor to make these custom pistols, and we are humbled that we have the opportunity partner with the Best Defense Foundation for salute these men, women, and veterans of World War II,” stated Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer, SIG SAUER, Inc. We hope these pistols will bring attention to their efforts. The foundation has made it their mission from Normandy to Pearl Harbor to honor the sacrifices of these veterans and we are forever grateful for their dedication to that cause.
