The Museum recently displayed three Colt Pythons, which are very rare Colt Pythons. These three rare wheelguns, from bottom to top: Colt Python serial numbers 2, 3, and 5. Yes, that’s the original box for Python #2 (at the bottom). According to the museum, such low serial numbers guns were usually made for company executives or key members of gun design teams. Colt Pythons are excellent investments because of their beautiful finish, great balance, and great trigger. The Python price has risen by over 50% since the introduction of the Colt Python in 1955. A Colt Python from the LNIB early-era can command a very high price of thousands. These rare single-digit examples could sell for more than $15,000+, according to the NRA museum. What was the price of a Python in 1955? The Royal Blue model could be purchased for only $125.00 According to this Colt advertisement, factory-engraved models start at $245.00. You can also see hundreds of other interesting firearms at the National Firearm Museum website, www.NRAMuseum.com. If you’re lucky enough, you can even see the collections in person. The NRA currently operates three Museum locations: the NRA National Firearms Museum, Fairfax, Virginia, the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum, Springfield, MO, and the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest, Raton, NM.
