Wilson Combat SFX9 3.25 – Refined 1911 for Personal Defense

I was there in Idaho, looking out at the Grand Teton Mountains, and handling various Wilson Combat offerings at their rangestation. With great anticipation, I look forward to the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. 2022 was the sixth edition. I was struck by the Wilson Combat SFX9 325 and thought about how far Browning’s 1911 design had advanced. It is possible that John the genius would recognize it. I believe he would be proud of what Wilson Combat has done with it. Wilson Combat SFX9 325 is Ideal for Concealed Carry John Browning’s 1911 pistol has, without a doubt earned the right to be called an iconic. There are many 1911 manufacturers that offer 1911s in sizes and shapes that would impress Browning. Wilson Combat is a company that has consistently distinguished itself from the rest. Wilson Combat’s reputation of effectiveness is due to Bill Wilson’s attention and insistence on accuracy, reliability, and precision. I don’t intend to repeat all the 1911 design characteristics. The 1911’s frame/slide width makes them an ideal carry gun. The single-action trigger encourages accuracy shooting. Wilson Combat’s SFX9 could be considered the ultimate version of this quest. Wilson Combat’s SFX9 builds on the strengths of the 1911 bulwark and offers a high-capacity 9MM without having to resort to a hybrid metal/polymer frame. I appreciate the 1911’s proven track record of performance both on the battlefield and on the streets. The Wilson Combat SFX9’s sleek profile, which wraps around fifteen 9MM cartridges, makes it ideal for concealment carry. Particularly when used with inside-the waistband carry techniques. Concealed carry is easy for anyone who understands the importance of grip length, overall weight, width, and a pistol’s size. Many will be disappointed that they have not been able to find a compact concealed carry 1911. Wilson Combat’s entry in the compact 1911 market is a sign of hope. Solid Wilson Combat Construction I tested the Wilson Combat SFX9 SFX9 with a frame made from solid T6-7075 aluminium. It is also smaller than Officer-style 1911s and has some Wilson Combat tweaks. Wilson prefers the metal frame design to the two-piece grip/frame construction found in 9MM 1911-style products. The SFX9’s aluminum frame creates a unique, positive ergonomic feeling that will appeal to many. What could be better than a 1911-style, high-capacity handgun that feels like metal in your hands? The SFX9 is 6.75 inches long, has a 3.25-inch Match barrel and measures 5.25 inches high. Because the barrel is hand-fitted to the slide, it does not require a barrel bushing. Field stripping the SFX9 requires no tools. The fluted barrel and chamber areas provide a unique aesthetic as well as weight savings. The trigger pull weighs 3.5 pounds. Wilson Combat dehorning is a benefit to the SFX9–removing sharp angles that can cause discomfort when worn for long periods of time or snag on clothing when taken out of concealment. Even if the SFX9 features were presented in bullet points, it is too long to fit into the review’s limited space. This build does include Wilson Combat’s enhanced reliability system (ERS). Visit the Wilson Combat website to see the full list. It’s a great resource of information that explains what sets Wilson Combat apart from its competitors. The SFX9 is a compact 9MM 1911 that was specifically designed to work with a short barrel 9MM. This is not a scaled-down version of the.45ACP Government trying gain market share. The SFX9 was running at the Rendezvous At Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous firing was steady with different shooters running the SFX9 through its paces on plate racks and dueling trees. During this time, everyone commented on the SFX9’s remarkable accuracy. The 9MM SFX9’s lightweight aluminum frame made it remarkably easy to control the recoil. Many associates were shocked that the Wilson Combat SFX9 was able to perform so well considering its small size. I have had the pleasure of using many 1911 models from different manufacturers. I have not had much success with 1911 models that use short barrels or bushingless designs. Wilson Combat’s methods were credited for the SFX9’s performance. The SFX9’s natural pointability was confirmed along with its speed to get into action. The SFX9’s slide is fitted with a Wilson Combat Concealment Battlesight, which is paired with a fiber optic front view. The beavertail frame helped to settle the compact 1911 in your hand and gave you a reference point when drawing the pistol from a belt. The 1911’s Condition One “cocked-and-locked” carry allows shooters to simply remove the safety and enjoy the shorter, lighter single-action trigger pull. Wilson Combat offers custom-loaded ammunition, holsters, and holsters for the SFX9 325. The 9MM Wilson Combat SFX9 325 allows users to have something different, but still retain cutting-edge functionality. WilsonCombat.com has more information. Wilson Combat SFX9 Specs Caliber 9MM
