YouTube Censorship: Losing the Battle For 1A and 2A

YouTube BANNED CHANNELS DAYS BEFORE SHOT Show 2023YouTube made a push to de-platform GunTubers. Just days before SHOT 2023, YouTube began to strike down at channels like Lucky Gunner, 1911 Syndicate, Rodger Barrera and 1911 Syndicate. We didn’t know that RECOILTV’s YouTube channel would be summarily destroyed a few days later. Although the answer isn’t encouraging, it isn’t surprising. Multiple conversations with YouTube content creators have revealed that many of them spoke with people who were pro-gun. It’s not enough. YouTube is here to make money. It’s not here to make the world better or uphold morals. The company is only interested in the big dollar. Advertisers are the source of those dollars. YouTube does have some guns-friendly brands, but the majority of YouTube’s revenue comes from giant corporations like Amazon and Disney, as well as household goods manufacturers like Procter & Gamble and electronics brands such Samsung. YouTube advertises with almost endless names, but you get the idea. YouTube earned more than $28 billion in 2021. GunTubers is a small part of that figure. Although the exact numbers are not known, it is easy to speculate that firearms content is not among the top ten YouTube videos. 2017: YouTube’s Worst Nightmare. Since most major brands want to avoid controversy and even the appearance of being on wrong side of issues it is easy to see why they only want to promote products on channels and videos that no one objected to. YouTube made a mistake in 2017. YouTube has been doing this since the beginning, but people only noticed it in 2017. YouTube was doing this for a long time, but it was only noticed by people in 2017. YouTube lost 5% in April 2017 to its top advertisers. This happened again in 2019, when YouTube’s ineffective methods for dealing with child exploitation videos were revealed. Once again, big brands like Disney and Nestle pulled ad dollars until YouTube fixed the problem. The vast majority of moderation on YouTube is automated due to the sheer volume of content available. YouTube uploads over 500 hours worth of content every minute. Each hour, more than 30,000 hours worth of video are added to YouTube. YouTube has thousands of moderators but this is far less than the tens or thousands of human moderators needed to view all content. Instead, YouTube uses powerful AI- and machine-learning algorithms to automatically comb through videos. The algorithm scans and processes everything, from the words spoken to images displayed. YouTube spends a lot of money to support human moderation teams. This is not something YouTube will do if they want to maintain high profit margins. YOUTUBE GUIDELINESThe biggest problem YouTubers face is that the guidelines are irrelevant. YouTube has two sets of guidelines. One covers everything on YouTube and one is for videos that are monetized. However, many YouTubers ignore these rules. A channel can appeal a warning or strike if it is given. The appeal is sent to a human moderator, who will review the issue and make a decision. These human moderators are not reliable in their judgement. Videos that are clear violations of the rules can still be removed or demonetized. Channels can delete the video, reupload the video, wait for the automated removal of the video and appeal to another moderator for a different ruling. However, this could lead to multiple strikes for the same video. 1911 Syndicate was warned for swapping a charging handle and struck for unthreading a suppressor. YouTube does not provide any details beyond the name of the video and a copy the entire YouTube Firearms Policy. YouTube can simply delete a channel if it has too many strikes. Creators were forbidden from showing magazines that are 30-round. This was a recent change. One recent change was that creators could not show 30-round magazines. YouTube is more concerned about channels that are monetized than those that aren’t. This has been proven by a few channels. This isn’t the kind of caring that a mother would give. This is more like attracting The Eye of Sauron. InRangeTV has been actively demonetized for years. Karl, the main host and creator of the channel, feels that this has helped keep the wolves away. InRange does not have ad revenue nor sponsorships. Instead, it relies on viewers to donate through other platforms such as Patreon and Utreon. However, this has not stopped the channel from being warned in the past. What is InRange’s greatest crime? A video about Ghost Gunner that didn’t even show the machine. Karl instead overlayed videos of cats playing with yarn to selfcensor the YouTube version. Other channels, such as 1911 Syndicate, have demonetized, but don’t rely on YouTube for revenue. The channel is a marketing tool to promote its real estate business. Our channel was monetized around 40,000 subscribers and demonetized approximately 2 months later. Our channel was demonetized in April 2011, which may have helped us avoid strikes 1911 SyndicateThis has (probably helped) keep it off YouTube’s naughty lists, but as its recent warnings and strike show, the main problem with other video platforms, YouTube’s rivals, is the lack of viewers. YouTube is the only video platform I know of that people actually like. However, it’s also the most popular. These are the best platforms for making this move. Recoil.TVCall this a shameless plug, but Recoil.TV offers a video platform that is free from YouTube crapola. Recoil.TV, a pro-2A and 1A video platform is a great way find and watch your favorite creators. It can also be used as a backup in the event YouTube degrades your channel. You can still find Kit Badger, for example, on Recoil.TV. Original content can also be found from RECOIL Magazine, Gun Digest and Blade, as well as our sister publications, Carnivore, OffGrid, Gun Digest and Blade. UtreonUtreon is a combination of Patreon, YouTube, and other channels. Utreon is a video platform that allows people to view their favorite channels and also allows them to donate money to the channel. They offer a mix of YouTube and Patreon, and provide a lot more benefits than YouTube. It’s not a paywall but allows for direct viewer support and many Patreon perks. The owner has been reliable, respectful, and competent. Although I believe their hearts are in the right place, it is still a central solution. Karl Kasarda, InRangeTVBitChuteBitChute has a bad name in the media. Some of that is well-earned. BitChute is a decentralized way to share and watch videos. BitChute uses a webtorrent to distribute its content. This makes BitChute extremely difficult to manage, reduces overhead costs, and gives a platform for those who are not on YouTube. Scrolling through the most popular videos makes me want to take a shower and watch something wholesome, like cat videos… on YouTube.RumbleAnother platform that is home to anyone with a video camera, Rumble hosts everything from wholesome content like America’s Funniest Home Videos to the likes of Alex Jones and Andrew Tate. Rumble provides a simple and clear way for channels to monetize their content, much like YouTube AdSense. Rumble does not condone pornography, harassment or racism, copyright infringement, antisemitism and other illegal content. Rumble is a site that encourages viewers to use their best judgement. This has been true for many years. YouTube will likely ban firearms from its platform sooner or later. YouTube will ban firearms from its platform if it does not. If you are able to support your favorite channels via Patreon, Utreon and other platforms, please do so.
